looking at last year’s blog, around Feb 17th for this year-----but things could change.

Dean J,

I received an email stating my SAT scores are missing, even though I received a confirmation email from ETS three months ago that the scores were sent. I will of course resend my scores, but should I also provide your office with a copy of the confirmation email from ETS so that the missing credential will not reflect poorly on my application? Also, when my counselor sends the unofficial copy, woiuld email or fax be preferable? Thank you.

Dean J,

How lenient is the Office of Admissions with the deadline for the mid-year reports? As you know, quite a few Mid-Atlantic schools have been closed during the inclement weather so they could not be sent this past week. Thanks.

nafter, I know you were asking Dean J, but he answered a similar question in this thread and I figured I’d post it. Hope it helps :)

I later read that thread, thanks gc414.

whats a likely?

It’s a letter that UVA (and other schools) send out to candidates who they think are very strong in their applicant pool and have a good chance of admission!
WOOOOOOOOOO UVA!!!

UVA hasn’t sent me confirmation of my application. Should I be worried?

Dean J:

Is there any quantitative measure (SATs, ACTs, grade average) that distinguishes between in-state and out-of-state applicants. Everyone says that it is harder to get in from out of state, but what really are the differences. Do you separate it out in that 25-75% SAT or ACT that we always see?

Topangaa, I addressed this [on the blog](Notes from Peabody: The UVA Application Process: Common App status) and here a few times. First, verify that you actually applied. Log into your Common App account and make sure you submitted the application, supplement, and payment. All three of those items have to be submitted for our system to consider you an applicant.

If you verify that all three parts of the application were submitted, check your spam/junk folder in the email account you used on the Common App. The email would have come from uvaapplicationinfo@virginia.edu. If you do not have an email from that address, email it with your full name and high school so we can generate a new email. Add that email address to your address book. I’m told that can decrease the chance of the email being marked as spam.

dadofapp, I answered this one in a blog post that will post tomorrow morning. :)

Dean J:

I will look there. I happened to be out with a friend who is an UVA alum and the subject came up. He was in-state, but his daughter, out-of-state, didn’t get in when she applied, so I said I would try to find out.

Someone I know got a phone call this week from UVa saying their application was great and that they were likely to be an Echols scholar and Congratulations they were likely to be accepted. Anyone else get a similar call?

There is a posting on Dean J’s blog about this. It says some applicants may get calls like this. What are your friend’s stats?

My friend has very good stats, highly ranked in the class and about 7 AP classes. Not too many EC’s.

Dean J, does one have a chance at all as an OOS-student with 2.9GPA?
