Official Visits

I was recruited by many colleges for lacrosse. The process was very exciting and very stressful. Since the NCAA allowed 5 Official visits, I was very fortunate to have all my visits completely paid by the school. Is a simple thank you note a proper way to thank all the coaches and schools I visited and should I also thank all the other schools I took non-official visits with. Should I go into detail of the school I chose and why when I send notes?
Thanks

JW,

Yes, “thank you’s” to the coaches would be a great start for both official and non-official visits. My son got in the habit of doing this the day after he left the campus, so he didn’t forget (lots of things going on junior/senior year).

Most folks send thank yous and include next steps to the recruiting process hoping to receive an offer. From your description it sounds like you did receive an offer and you’ve selected a school…is that correct? If so, congrats! If you’ve accepted the offer, I would tell the other coaches that you’ve accepted the offer, but I would not share the reasons. I would also include some language in your note that “if there are any significant changes, I will reach out to you”. BTW things happen in recruiting and athltes tranfers all the time. I see it every year, and it amazes me how many D1 athletes end up transferring for one reason or another. You’ll want to keep in contact with these coaches becasue chances are pretty good you will see them somewhere down the road. Good luck.
