School: Pretty competitive public, sends at least 2-3 to Mich every year.

I’ll admit I’m a little surprised. I was at the top of my school’s naviance plot for Mich with at least 20-30 acceptances for kids with stats much lower than mine. I know that Mich is getting a lot more competitive, and I also applied to engineering so that may have had something to do with it. It’s my top choice so I’m definitely going to push to get off the wait list. Meanwhile, I’ll send my deposit in for Villanova '16!

-I expected an outright rejection actually. U Michigan is very competitive and was a reach for me. I’m also OOS, which doesn’t help.
-Declined the wait list. Not to be offensive, but it was never my #1 choice.
-To those accepting the waitlist, good luck and FIGHT for it(but also fall in love with the schools you’ve been accepted to). To those declining the waitlist, good luck also on the school of your choice.

I was kinda surprised that I i was waitlisted. I had originally thought that this was a definite match and I applied early action too. But college admissions don’t make sense. Unfortunate that I didn’t get into any of my reach school or even target school but I am going to U of I which is extra solid for my intended major. Good luck to everyone on the waitlist or that are still waiting for a decision.

Quick Question: I got wait-listed and I accepted the offer, but there is only a box without words showing on my Wolverine Access after I clicked on two separate pages. Does that I mean I was successfully put on the waitlist?

I have applied to 6 colleges this year: rejected to two and waitlisted at four, including UMich.

Feelings: I’m actually content. Obviously I’m not happy, but I thought I would get flat out rejected. My odds of getting off the waitlist are probably minimal, but hey, I didn’t get rejected completely haha.

Yes, I will accept the waitlist and in the mean time commit to San Diego State University, while also waiting on the University of Washington, which I got waitlisted to and is my top choice.

EC: pretty strong.
Other:
-Volunteered ~300 hours

Recs: probably generic, I go to a large public school.
Essays: I didn’t spend a lot of time on the supplement essay, probably what got me waitlisted. my common app essay was good.
Race: Asian male.
Applied to: Arts & Science
Other:
-did not apply for FA
-no hooks

I was very disappointed, and little shocked. I thought I had a very good chance of getting into U-M. The fact that I submitted my common app on the absolute deadline date, a month after I sent out the snail mail with the school reports, probably hurt me. My supplement essay might also have hurt me.

Of course, these are just my speculations. I’m very interested to hear what you guys think were the reasons that got me waitlisted, or essentially, rejected.

I’m still debating whether I should accept the waitlist, but it kinda sucks to be stuck with just one acceptance.

Thoughts: I was a little shocked because people with lower stats have got accepted but thats just how it goes sometimes.

I have been accepted at USC Marshall School of Business. I have put in the deposit at the same time I have accepted the wait list.
