Yer sat scores and gpa are more then necessary for CAS which I think should mean your admitted but who knows. Your ECs to me seem weak (granted I have no sway or knowledge of what goes on during admissions) so IDK. What makes you standout?

freakish you’re almost definately in.

Just wondering if I get could get any responses from people who were admitted into NYU and such tomfoolery.

Quickly, here are a few statistics:

Unweighted GPA: 3.5 (90) (Our school does not do Class Rank)

Course Load: Rigorous (All Honors or AP’s when possible)

SAT: 1550

SAT II: Writing, Biology, Chemistry, Math IC, Math IIC (700 +, I got a 650 on one)

AP Courses: AP World, AP American, AP Calc BC, AP English, AP Biology, AP Physics (All 4’s and 5’s)

EC’s: Model United Nations (President) (4 years), Speech and Debate (President) (4 years) (Local and State Champion), Masterminds Trivia Team (3 years) (Treasurer), Shakespeare (4 years not including six years of active training) (Student Director Junior Year) (Lead Role Senior Year), Science Research (Allows students to pursue independent original research outside of class)

Possible Knocks Against Me: No Sports, No Job

Personal Belief on Quality of Essay: Excellent

NOTE: I also play classical violin for Empire State Youth Orcehstra, but I’m very apathetic about it. It’s not that I’m bad, I’m actually quite skilled when I’m dedicated, it’s just nothing I’d brag about. Also, I plan on applying ED.

jazz, you have a pretty good shot, id be surprised if you didnt get in

lexis, with your sat score you should be a shoe in, i wouldnt worry about sports and job, but i would worry a lil about the gpa, is that gpa good for your school? I know a 3.5 in my school is horrendously easy to get(id say top 10-15% of students get this), but i go to a really bad school.

Our school was ranked as one of the best in the nation according to Newsweek a couple years back.

can anybody rate me? my post is a few up and no one noticed it :(

you should get in, the music should help… I think you shoudlve applied to steinhardt or tisch tho

You can send a CD with your application to Gallatin? That’s brilliant. I didn’t even know that was allowed. It’s something I would do in a heart beat though because it’d be sure to help me out big time. Concentration music / communications / all the interning I can stand. fingers crossed

yeah i didnt see anything about sending supplemental materials to Gallatin, but i figured, what the heck, if they dont listen to it , it only cost me like 30 cents haha.

Chances?
Applying to Tisch (film and tv)
White female, Boise, Idaho!
-PSAT: eqauls 1426 on SAT (should be alright on SAT’s and ACT’s)
-GPA: 3.9 uw, 4.5 w. rank: somewhere in the top 10% at least
-lots of EC’s, 3 instruments, have done a couple of short films, taken college studio production classes, NHS, Key club, history club, German club (leadership positions), volunteer work etc, good recs.

  • will have taken 8 AP’s by graduation
I know that for Tisch only about half the admissions is academics so how do i look for that?
    oh…and applying ED.

i dunno much about the film and tv program, but i heard it was nearly impossible to get into.

Tisch has about an 11% acceptance rate and it is extremely unpredictable. I know an actor with a 3.4 and 10 hundred something SAT who got into Tisch, but it’s hard to reject a person from an acting program with an agent, manager and tons of TV, film, and stage credits. TV and Film is even more strange from what I’ve heard. But for the record, I think your stats are incredible, and based on the fact that you’ve only taken a PSAT I’m guessing you’re in like, tenth grade. Do what ever you can to boost your talent resume. Plus, do you feel that your experience in TV and film is limited because of where you live, and that you should live in NYC to have the best opportunity for the education and experience that you need? That’s something to stress.

I’m a junior actually but I’m waiting to take the new SAT in March. I’m doing everything I can for living in Idaho (film wise etc), if I explained this to them would they take that into consideration when comparing me to someone from a larger city?

Chances at Stern…710M 660V, avg. SATII scores, rank is 28/434, GPA is 3.825…hard classes, nine APs.

I’m sure they would love to see that. I think most of their students are from outside of ny. They have the capabilities, but lack the proper resources.
