Official World Cup Game Discussion Thread

^It’s not equivalent because he didn’t actually score a goal

^The Equal Rights For Defenders Act was passed in 1993.

Very unlucky shot at the end…

So, looks like Paul the Octopus was right again, haha. I knew Germany would pull it off! Now, on to the big game tomorrow. Who do you think is going to win? I’m rooting for the Dutch!

Spain of course.

The most important thing of the game this afternoon is that KLOSE DIDN’T BREAK THE RECORD!!!

Also im a bit late, but someone said in the last page that the uruguay vs. ghana game was more meaningful to Ghana.
I couldn’t disagree more. Of course ghana was the last african team on the cup, and it would mean so much for the entire africa and all, but Uruguay has football tradition. Everybody there adores it above any other type of sport, but the national team haven’t gone so far in the cup in aaaaaaages. Even that 4th place meant SO MUCH for uruguayans. More than it would have meant for Ghana.

A lot of teams have football tradition.

Football is adored by people in Ghana in Africa as well above any other sport. [Some people even died after Ghana lost.](http://www.capitalfm.co.ke/news/Kenyanews/Two-Kenyan-football-fans-killed-after-Ghana-loss-8971.html)

Neither have Ghana. Can you name when Ghana (or any African team) has gone to the semifinals?

That’s my point. It means more for Ghana and “the entire africa and all”. Especially since this is the first time the world cup has been held in African soil.

But Ghana is new in football. This is only like their 3rd WC if im not mistaken.
Football is in the heart of uruguayans.

^It’s in the heart of the Ghanaian people as well. They might be new, but [they’re doing well](<a href=“FIFA U-20 World Cup Poland 2019™”>FIFA U-20 World Cup Poland 2019™). Just because it’s their 3rd world cup doesn’t mean that it matters less for them.

But it’s not tradition

^where are you from?

^Why does it matter where I’m from?

So you’re saying that football tradition is necessary for a national team to have importance?

No, im not saying that. Im saying that football tradition is necessary when determining to which team/nation was it more important to win. To whom it mattered the most.

I just asked where you are from because generally north americans can’t understand latin americans’ love for football. It is different

^I’m not from North America, and I don’t think it would mater if I was from North America.

It can be sometimes, but in this case I disagree. This meant more to Ghana and Africa and I guess you’re just failing to grasp that. Remember that this was the first time that the WC has been hosted in Africa. That matters a lot. Africa rarely gets this much attention.

The Octopus says Spain will win the World Cup, and thus Spain will be victorious. Trust the Octopus.

^Yeah, but the last time the Octopus predicted a game involving Spain, he was wrong.

I hope Spain can win and Iniesta can score. Although quite unlikely, how wonderful would it be if Mueller actually won the Golden Boot!

^^ Hey, Spain WILL win. Go away.

Yeah, but the last time it said Germany would win against Spain, and it was wrong. So it learned that Spain is a superior team, and is making the accurate prediction now.

Oh, how we trust psychic Octopus’.
