mmm…makes me think of rasmalai

I called the admissions office today, they confirmed that we have until midnight of Nov 1, so don’t worry.

Aah! I just got my app in!

I procrastinated like crazy with the essays, but somehow i managed to write two that i was really happy with in FIVE DAYS!!! My friends and teachers were so helpful, i pretty much had a dozen people review my essays every day this Monday, Tuesday, and today!

Any thought on my recruited athlete from the same school question would be appreciated.

Lol, actually, it was in response to EAD’s post:

Thank you!! Anyway, the term Asian is very broad and has recently been used primarily to refer to those in the Far East like Chinese/Japanese/Korean/Tiawanese etc. Indians and Pakistanis are ordinally referred to as Subcontinental Asians. Personally, I think it’s stupid that I can’t call myself an Asian anymore because India clearly is located in the middle of Asia last time I checked. Hey Koena, maybe when we go to Yale, we can start a revolution and reclaim our rightful identification.

Mallomar, I can’t imagine where the hell you’ve eaten Indian food but masala dosai is sooo not greasy if it’s made correctly! When we get into Yale, and the [above] revolution starts, you’ll have the opportunity to sample some AMAZING, non-greasy masala dosai, possibly rava ;)

theoneo, gulab jamun is a big sweet for my liking to be honest…which is ironic since jalebi is pretty sweet too, but it’s like neon orange so that kind of compensates for everything. Are you from Bombay though? I haven’t met one Mumbaite who doesn’t like gulab jamun…that’s probably a really bad way to judge origin but it’s worked in the past, so yeah.

rasmalai sounds kind of amazing right now…btw, I just ate some uttapam, and it was DELISHHH!

Omg this thread just got 15 times fobbier :D

And yes I do know dosas aren’t greasy. They are paper thin and crispy. But the pan is really greased (how else do you think they make it so perfect?) and theres at least one tablespoon of oil in each one…so yes, it is greasy, even if it doesn’t feel that way. But who cares, yum :D

Alright, I’m concerned- I sent my SAT scores awhile ago, and never received confirmation that Yale had gotten them. Is that really bad???

Also, if I took the October SAT 1, how can I be sure Yale will get it in time for SCEA decisions?

Naw, I’m from New Delhi/Panjab.

As for dosas, some restaurants make them really greasy and they suck. But from my experience home-cooked ones are much, much better.

whoop, whoop Punjabis in da house lol me too

OK guys enough thread-derailing.

Let’s do something to ease our nerves. Everyone, list what you consider to be the weakest part of your application. We can safely assume that at least some people in this thread will get accepted on Dec. 15. So let’s all list our weaknesses and make ourselves feel better–no one is perfect but some of us will get in anyway! I’ll start.

I don’t have one extracurricular that stands out as a clear passion.

Um…my community service is there, but it’s lackluster and seems like I did it all just right before college.

Let’s see:
community service, not that much
work experience? not really
high scores? not so much
white female from NJ
i could go on and on
oh, and essays, well, what’s the opposite of stellar?

horrible class rank for me(top 20%) due to my school’s grading system

EC’s are probably not up to Yale’s standards

I think my application was well-themed and represented me pretty well so that’s something to be happy about I guess.

Hey, are any of you guys interested in sharing essays in a couple of hours once the deadline passes??? It would give us something to do and it’s always fun to read college essays:D

Sure, I’d be very happy to. Want to do a PM exchange now?

sort of like mallomar: only my passion is coincidentally stereotypically asian (just guess… you’ll get it in < or =2 trys)… and therefore I’m nervous that they will not look at it highly, especially since I have yet to win any major awards…which is sort of disappointing because it’s really a major proportion of my life basically.

Yeah, I’d be more than happy to once the deadline passes.

My main worry is that the admissions people won’t understand how much effort I put into some of my activities. It’s so hard to explain in a few words on an app, you know?

Yeah ABSOLUTELY MallomarCookie!!! I mean, when I clicked “Print Preview” on the CommonApp, I saw my 4 years of sweat, agony, and hard work being condensed into a box with seven rows and a 14 character limit for “Honors/Awards/Positions”. Luckily I sent in a resume but it still makes you nervous all the same…

Stupid question, but are you Indian as well??;)

Great…everyone seems to have submitted a resume but me. Is that bad?

My SAT I scores are definitely the weakest. A 1450/2110? Pfft, that’s not even close to Yale standards. I just hope my October SAT’s were good (not much longer till I find out!

Hey guys, do you think it will matter if none of my stationary that was sent to the Yale admissions office was actually labeled “Early Action”? I thought it would be fairly obvious but the Yale website seems to suggest otherwise.
