jchoi1228 - Don’t resubmit your app. If you really want to fix your app then submit extra documents. No, your app won’t be pushed to RD (unless if you’re referring to being deferred).

b4nnd20/siriusaboutyale - yeah I’m applying to 13 schools - my lucky number! haha. But I have specific reasons for liking all of them - mostly because of their programs in the field I want to major in.

Cool, it’s your choice to fill out all the apps…in the end it means you’re going to get more acceptance letters than the rest of us, so don’t listen to the detractors I’m just really lazy and can’t fathom how someone could do all that work…but for you it will be worth the extra choices…for me, well, I don’t really care for a lot of the colleges on my list since they’re matches

jegan3- I asked a ton of questions, including stuff that naturally came up after getting to know the interviewer a bit. Basically a lot of stuff about Yale programs I’m interested in, a question on what she thinks of the New Haven area, comments and questions on the residential college system, and questions about her major, her activities at Yale, stuff like that. Don’t freak- just figure out what you want to know about Yale and ask that at the interview. Plus, alumni interviewers generally like to talk about themselves and their experiences at the college, so asking about that is always a plus.

b4nnd20 - Yeah, I don’t know exactly what I want to do or what I want in a school. Because like each school has its pros and its cons, and I don’t want to have to weigh them now. Plus, I’m only writing like 5 essays in all (not including short answer questions), and I can apply to half my schools with just the 2 I wrote for Yale. So really it isn’t that bad.

vegangirl - I’m actually not a huge fan of the campus. But I love the proximity to DC, my favorite city ever! And I love the way the schools are organized, and the fact that my prospective major is offered jointly through three or four different schools. Pretty sweet!

11 apps including Yale for me + scholarships … so many essays… but im with holding like 5 or 6 apps if accepted to Yale. Yale is completely my first choice! but i love my safety’s too, which i think is a pretty good olace to be in at this point

I’m starting to think that I should just accept Yale and be done with it if I get in early. Isn’t it asking for too much to apply to more colleges? Perhaps I will keep 2 apps, to Princeton (2nd choice, in case I change my mind by May) and Harvard (just for the chance to turn them down). Other than that, nothing, though.

Yeah, I would only seriously consider my safeties (for $), Penn, and Harvard against Yale anyway, so I’m not sure if I should keep my other apps or not. But then again there’s always special programs - like honors programs and scholarships and stuff. Which is why right now I don’t think I’d withdraw any.

In any case, it’s far too early to think about this! If you don’t get in early, all this planning would have been wasteful.

I think I’m applying to 8 plus scholarships… but I’m pretty happy with that number. I would probably still apply to Dartmouth if I got in and thats it. But I try not to put myself in that scenario… since its never gonna happen!

ok wow, am i the only person who hasnt been contacted by an interviewer??? the 4 other pple in my school have had theres already so i know theres one out there! would it be total taboo to try and contact him\her myself?

i just found this website/thread the other day, and it scares me how addicting it is. so i’m just joining in on the obsession.

all i know is i CANNOT wait till december 15th. i honestly don’t think i can handle it.

what i don’t understand is why so many of you guys would apply to other schools if you got into yale! i can’t imagine getting an acceptance letter and then thinking, “oh, well, better go get started on my harvard app…”

Yeah, the money issue is pretty big. I don’t qualify for financial aid, but who honestly has an extra $45,000 just lying around to spend every year? If I got substantial merit scholarships elsewhere I would definitely think twice about going to Yale.

The other reason would be that for what I want to pursue post-college, it might be better for me to be in DC or NYC just for internships and so on. Plus I love both of those cities a LOT.

jegan3- we’re in basically the same situation. I don’t qualify for financial aid either, but college is frickin expensive, and I have two more siblings coming after me. And I’m a huge fan of DC and NYC too (most of the schools I’m applying to are in one of those cities).

I have my interview in about half an hour. yay!
