oh man! no interview for me, yet. I guess there must be more applicants from my area than I thought becuase there def is an ASC director in my area.

is it okay if I contact her (the director) as Dec is getting closer to find out if I can have an interview?

Hi, I’m new to the forum/thread, but I read the whole thing :). I’m JAG from Miami, FL. Since everybody’s discussing interviews, I thought I’d mention mine. The interview was held at a lawyer’s office, and the interviewer was very nice. We spoke about everything from academics to Bones. The experience was great, and I left the interviewer’s office feeling confident that the interview went well. From what I’ve heard/read, 99% of interviews go well; there’s nothing to worry about!

My interview was HORRIBLE. The interviewer asked me what I hated about myself and what I hated about Yale…ummm isn’t this supposed to be an interview to talk about the positives of both? Then she asked if I wanted kids…? bizarre!! ughhh it was such a bad experience, i’m definitely going to get rejected i just know it ahhhhhh…

Ah sep, I wouldn’t worry much over the interview. The general concensus is that it doesn’t hold much weight in the admissions process. My interviewer said, “I don’t even think they really listen to what I have to say.”
Anyway, if you feel you won’t get in, it’s probably more because your insecure about the rest of your application. But if that’s not it, and you’re worried about how the interview went, stop worrying so much. Even if it does hurt you (which it wont, much, if at all), there’s nothing you can do about it at this point.

of course, all of this is subject to change depending on the Yale decision. If I were to somehow be accepted I might just get really, really lazy.

I would withdraw/not submit 4 of the remaining apps…the Duke, Stanford, Princeton, Harvard, and Wash U apps I would keep (I left out a couple on my previous list that were matches)

vegangirl’s comment got me thinking (btw, I’m a parent with a child applying SCEA, not a student), how many applied to Yale early not because it’s your first choice (i.e., you’ll shred all your other apps if you’re accepted) but for some other reason? At my son’s school almost 10% of the graduating class applied early to Yale which strikes me as – for lack of a better word – insane. Not just the numbers, but the fact that many applied not because it was their first choice, but as a roll of the dice. I know this is a dumb question, but why apply EA if you’d be happier somewhere else?

So I’m assuming your safeties are Harvard and MIT?
HAH! Just kidding.
I’ll be applying to Brown, UChicago (my top choice after Yale), Northwestern, BU, BC, and probably a few others.

Just had my interview!! The interviewer was really nice, outgoing, super-friendly, and asked me about 3 basic interview questions before asking me to ask her questions about Yale. I asked her everything I could think of- good thing I’d prepared questions, or the interview would have lasted about 5 minutes… :-)

Hey guys, I applied to Yale EA, but I realized that I didn’t specify some activities in my application for the common app. For example, I only put down “musical instrument” and not what instrument I played. I only placed the general description for my application and didn’t go into specifics. I was thinking of creating a word document of my activites and submitting it in to Yale, or should I just change it on the common app and resubmit. Also, my common app main essay was formatted wrong. There isn’t a paragraph break between two paragraphs and for my conclusion, there is a new paragraph in the middle of the sentence. Should I fix this up and resubmit? If I resubmit anything, will my application be pushed to regular decision?
