EAD, I’m not laughing at you, I’m just enjoying being a spectator…just the fact that we know what’s going on is funny to me. Isn’t it funny to you? And no, I’m not jealous of your progress, I’m not a guy.

Hey, off topic, but has anyone else heard from NFAA?
I just got a letter today saying I’m a merit winner (aka honorable mention, aka $100, aka enough to recoup my $70 of entry fees, yay) in film. No word on my writing entry. I’m not sure if that means they send out the merit awards first and then the bigger awards, or if they’ve already sent everything. Mysterious.
In any event, i was just wondering if anyone else heard.

Merit is 100 dollars, Honorable mention is 250

oh, whoops. i didn’t realize there was a category actually called “honorable mention.” in any case, i won a merit award. yeah.

Hey, just joined the forums and applied to Yale SCEA…anybody know how seriously yale takes recc letters from alumni?

Depends how well you know the person and how good the letter is

supplemental recs in general aren’t going to do a whole lot

Even if the alumni is pretty powerful?

did you get a letter from the president? amused

haha no and I doubt big W meshes really well with the politics from yale anyway

less than 3 weeks!

average SAT scores kristen haha

Jake and Kristen…I think you’re both pretty solid…but I guess only time can tell…20 DAYS!!

Sorry to digress from the current convo…but while I am mildly in love with both of you, b4nnd20 and EAD, I think I have to agree with everyone else in saying that no one can say for sure who will get in and who won’t. It’s basically impossible to call, except if you, I don’t know, win Intel or something.

And b4nnd20 , were you laughing about EAD’s ‘passion for girls?’ EAD, while I do think you have a lot of game, lol, I think you’re kind of a playa playa. And if that comes through in an internet thread, it has to be true at least tenfold in real life. So good luck with the ladies, I’m sure you’ll have many opportunities. I’m more into the more serious relationshippy type myself, but I hope we can still be friends :)

Looool…disregard that totally if it didn’t have to do with your ‘passion for girls.’ Hah

Sarcasm on the internet apparently doesn’t go over very well. First off, I posted that “passion for girls” thread after a “passion for english” and a “passion for history” were already posted, so I was just trying to add some fun to liven up this forum. Second, I think you’ll find that I’m very different in real life as supposed to whatever I come off as being on the internet. Trust me koena, if I was a “playa playa”(***?), then I would probably be applying to Arizona State and not Yale. Third, b4nnd20’s a girl and she’s mildly evil so I suggest you fall “out of love” with her.

Sure, whatever you say(ouchh getting rejected on CC). I know how all those “serious relationship” types search for all the Mike’s and Sarah’s on Facebook to get an idea of the aesthetical value of Yale students. We’ll see;)

20 MORE DAYS!!!

Hey, I’ve kinda been on the sidelines watching this thread. I figure I might as well post my stats now…what harm can come from it?

General Comments/Congratulations/Venting/Commiserations,etc:
I pray on a daily basis that I’ll get in! I hope to see all of you at Yale. Any comments on my chances. I am anxiously waiting for December 15!!

This thread is turning into a soap. :p

lololol…

This whole process puts things in perspective for me. When i read CC members’ posts, i realize why admissions are so random! Ah, it’s impossible to compete with such intimidating applicants. What’s bizarre for me is that at my school i’m one of those intimidating people, but in the grand scheme of things i’m really one very small person. Ah! Well, at least i’m gaining some good perspective.

Good luck to you all! I’m still clinging to a desperate hope that my SATs/GPA might make up for a mediocre essay/lack of AMAZING activities…

Kwijiborjt, I know exactly how you feel. I’m not too intimidating at my school (I get along with just about everyone), but people still look up to me. After looking at other peoples’ stats, I can say that mine no longer look as impressive as they look in the bubble that is my school. I’m nervous because of my SAT/ACT scores. 20 Days…

Well, guys, don’t worry about it too much. Haven’t people gotten into Yale before from “the bubble that is your school”?
