Yes, but not in a few years. My college counseling department does not go out of its way to get people into ivies, in fact, it likes to promote the lesser, Jesuit schools. Although changes with the counseling department are being debated by the school’s board in order to get more people into excellent colleges, those changes have not been made. The emphasis at my school seems to be almost exclusively on the middle-50% of my class. Every single person in the top 20 had to change their senior schedules and course loads to accommodate everybody else. When a counselor asked me why I wanted to take such a rigorous course-load senior year, I said that it was because I wanted to get in to Yale. He just shrugged his shoulders and rolled his eyes. I’ve had to work hard outside of my counseling department to get things done. My counselor wrote me a good letter, though, to his credit.

i have a quick question guys, if any of you were missing something in your application, how do they contact you? via email? cell phone? directly to the guidance office??
also, if you took the SAT in november and designated yale as one of your schools for the report to be sent, is there need to do rush reporting(which i believe is only for those reports that have not been designated to a school at the time of registration?)?

It always seems like the rich prep school kids get an advantage with their savvy counselors and their feeder school/Ivy connections…but kids from ordinary schools get in all the time. If you’ve done the best with what’s given you, then be satisfied.

the sad part is, my school is a prep school

what do you mean by prep schools? like private schools (ie phillips andover??)
because all of the ivy schools tend to admit around 65% public school students

Well, “Prep school” can be a whole range of things. It could be a boarding school, but usually it’s just a regular-style school. For example, my school is ***** Jesuit Preparatory School. My prep experience is that I have to wear a white shirt and tie every day in an all-male environment. Most prep schools are pretty selective. Some prep schools are laptop schools, mine isn’t. My school was founded in 1854 in Cuba, and my school likes to remain true to it’s traditions. For example, we have a barbershop to ensure our hair isn’t too long. The school is in Miami because Fidel Castro, a grad from my school, took over in Cuba. I don’t know, I guess all prep schools are different.

OMG sorrrrry EAD…I totally didn’t mean to upset you…you’re right, internet sarcasm/jokes don’t really go across very well…Can we just put this little mishap behind us? Because, if you recall, we were going to instigate a pretty spiffy revolution to reclaim our Asian identities once at Yale…I hope this doesn’t change things

And ouch, that did hurt. But you’re partially right…partially

And no, sorry, I won’t fall mildly out of love with b4n, it’s kind of too late now

Sweet…

love how koena07 just assumes she’s getting into yale.

Lol if you actually read the thread you would see that it’s the exact opposite. Aren’t you the person who asked us what clubs to join to get into Yale? You don’t really belong here.

Haha yes b4n… SCEAers defending our own! This thread is intense.

Apology accepted!! I’m a very forgiving guy you see.:)

Absolutely not;)

Everyone’s curious so I don’t really blame you. I confess that I might have on chance done something similar. Ahem.

She is getting into Yale SCEA. If she gets deferred/rejected, I’m going to turn Yale down myself if I somehow get accepted since I certainly don’t deserve admission more than an individual who’s managed to donate $25K to the global AIDS cause in addition to all the amazing other stuff she’s done. Our generation needs more people like her.

Apathy and indifference purges all our souls.:(

Dude, EAD, get a hobby.

19ish days

Wow…I love you guys…passionately.

I’m currently loaning my love out to the Fighting Irish with the hopes that they can trounce the Trojans and force a rematch between Michigan and Ohio State.

Then, I can get back to passionately loving Koena. sigh

Hi guys, I’m applying early to Yale too this year. I don’t really want to post my data but I can tell you, you guys are crazy good compared to me! I can’t even get myself to work on applications. Any news on Yale?

i will dissent- NO ONE’S GETTING IN FROM THIS THREAD KASJDLAEKFJALFKJD
Mass histeria and mayhem.

(j/k)

Hysteria

Know your Latin/Greek roots!

That is why i love this forum… we respond to insult with scathing critiques of a person’s knowledge of classical languages… I’m home!

it is not an insult, it’s truth =P (jk again)
