Hey, I come from a private school, and according to one of my friends, one of the guidance counselors “forgot” to send a transcript. O.o

I go to an underfunded public school, i feel the pain. The counselors give absolutely no guidance in the college search or readiness process. They get our letters in on time, but that’s about it. They don’t even remind us of deadlines or things like when to send in our scores. We all just rely on each other to figure out when things are due and whether our lists are good.

Spring of junior year

My counselor: so, what do you think you’d like to major in in college?
Me: Maybe political science
My counselor: oh, well then you better start taking more science classes. How about we sign you up for an AP science next year?

TRUE STORY I KID YOU NOT.

Koena07- Great tip! I hadn’t even looked into the school at all. If I applied it would have been on a whim. But now I guess I’ll have to make my decision before Yale makes theirs…

haha vegangirl i can empathize. being a public school applicant to top schools like yale is scary. you read all of these posts and articles about the crazy lengths kids and their parents go to get in (hiring outside help, having their school-supplied college counselor ‘lobby’ for them)…and all i can do is hope that yale understands that i’m a public schooler and it just doesn’t work like that for me. i wrote my essays, had two friends and my parents read them, and sent them in. no more, no less.

To the EAers applying to the Robertson:
how’s your app coming along? Mine was going just fine until I starting reading the profiles of the scholars. They’re all community service champions of the universe. so much for my chances. oh well. i’m too far along in the app process to turn back now. lol.

vegangirl - Mine’s going well, but I don’t have nearly enough community service, and what I do have isn’t concentrated in a specific area, unfortunately. Blehh. Plus I’m having a really hard time writing my third short essay. Oh, and all of my essays are dramatically over the word limit. Sigh.

OH also. Today the admissions office called my school… turns out one of my teachers (who’s left the school) didn’t send in my rec letter. So I had to scramble to find a teacher to do it and fax it in… eek.

I have my interview in < an hour… I’m a little nervous. How did all of yours’ go?

Hey everyone,
this is a stupid/neurotic question but does anyone know what TIME we can get online early decisions? I know it’s the 15th, but the exact time would be really appreciated!

I think it’s 4:30 EST? maybe 5:30 EST? there’s a countdown here http://www.bleacheatingfreaks.com/makeacountdown/?id=227808

i JUST got a call from an alum interviewer! he said he had until dec. 5 to report–we’re meeting tomorrow afternoon at starbucks! ahh! such short notice! but hooray!

wow, I guess your interviewer got an extension. Mine said today that her deadline was 12/1 and that she would write my report tonight.

yeah, it was weird. when i got the confirmation letter from yale, they said that there was no interviewer in my area. but then this guy called me today…oh well, i just hope it goes well! how did yours go today?

Is there any kind of regular decision ‘official decisions’ forum for Yale, or any other school for that matter? There only seem to be EA/ED forums for decisions posts…

Surprisingly, my interviewer said that I was the only one she had talked to in my area…(everyone else I know this year and last was interviewed by a different guy)
It was a really short interview (<25 minutes) but I think it went decently well- she was very upbeat.

crap… i thought i had sent in my supp material, and then apparently, it bounced back to me… three weeks later. i just wrote an apology letter along with the material, and faxed it to the office + overnighted snailmail to yale. ARGHAKSDJALSKJFDAF

Koena07- This seems odd that there isn’t a regular decisions thread. In some other forums they are just tacked onto the Early Decisions threads. People just post their April decisions at the end of the thread. There are a few decisions posted in april in the last pages of Yale’s but not really… I don’t know what to tell you…

koena07 - yeah, the’re around somewhere. They’re just not stickied. Edit: Here it is: [Official Yale RD Decisions - Class of 2010](http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/showthread.php?t=163263)

I’m glad to hear your interview went well, juniorinhs. And good luck tomorrow, LunarChick! :)

my alum interviewer JUST contacted me by e-mail! its’ weird though, because i thought all reports were due by 12/1 also… but he said even up thru the weekend of dec 9th or 10th is fine??? I would think that by then, the decisions would be made already… what do u guys think?
