Official Yale 2011 Scea Thread

Just submitted my Robertson’s stuff. How’s yours going, vegangirl?

I’m applying for Robertson, too. God, those alumni profiles have made me lose all hope. Thank you SO much, vegangirl.

I feel like giving up on the Duke Robertsons application but I figure what the heck, I might as well have some fun with this.:)

Haha, same. I already asked for my rec and paid the hefty fee of 39 cents for the envelope, so I might as well follow through (and BS it). Actually, some of my best writing has been last-minute BS… I’m kind of relying on that again.

14 days

I wonder if they’ve started reading applications yet. Two weeks isn’t a lot of time with 3541 early applications to review. 14 days, 3541 applications = 253 applications per day, including weekends and the day of decisions. Completely pointless to think about, but it’s just interesting

I haven’t been posting too much on this thread (although I have a couple on here) but I finally, after many weeks of agaonizing, received a call for an interview yesterday, Nov 30! And the interview is on Dec 7.

Whoa, so that means she will have to send out the report/rec letter right after that, and even if she does that on the 8th, it probably won’t arrive in New Haven until the 12-13th!!! Ahhhh, I really hope the receive the report in time, becuase I’m really hoping the interview will only help my application.

Grrrrrr… just wanted to share my frustrations with you guys and gals :)

Good luck with your interview, Sohni! If they’re even interviewing you, that probably means the interview will arrive on time, so hopefully that will work out.

Left school early to work on my Robertson…lol theoneo…I kind of have to do some clutch performance BSing myself…I haven’t even started haha

I stayed home to work on BU and Robertson. And I’m still not done with BU. :p

About this interview frenzy - Yale says the interview is only “considered”, so it probably isn’t very consequential, so don’t worry about it. :)

Ahh, I can’t believe we’re so close. And yet so far away. Columbia finds out in 6 days! I’m jealous.

phew…so I called Yale and they said that it will be totally fine because they (the alums) send the report thingie right away/ the very same day…does that mean it’s done electronically?

hmmm…just a thought but I’m very happy to know that it will be apart of the application. Now I just have to not screw up the interview :)

yes, my interviewer said that he would fill out an online report.

about that… i was the first person he had EVER interviewed. it didn’t go badly, but it was sort of uncomfortable because, unfortunately, he wasn’t an old hand and he wasn’t very personable, either. gah.

oh well, though, i just talked about community service and writing and being an english nerd. too bad he was a math major. i can’t see him really writing a scarring report, though. just wasn’t what i expected…

two weeks from today!!!

elsewhen: just curious-what online multivariable course were you taking?
Earlier this fall, I had been looking for one… After some other unsuccessful ventures, I’ve ended up with EPGY. It’s definitely not comparable to working in a classroom with a teacher, and I’m saying so coming from an average public high school. I was just wondering what opportunities you had found…

Hey guys whats Robertson out of curiousity??

Alright, I propose a game… Let’s all describe where we got our names…

Potus2- I’m a total nerd for the TV show The West Wing and in the pilot they always refer to the president as Potus… (president of the united states. I think they do this in real life as well… but that’s where I got it) . And no, I don’t want to be potus someday. I’m just obsessed with the show!

Cute game.
Mine’s pretty obvious, the play on “serious” comes from my love of Harry Potter, as in Sirius Black. But here, instead of being “sirius” about harry potter, i’m “sirius about yale”.
13 days.

A really popular girl was trying to yell for me across the lunchroom one day, but she had her mouth full of sandwich. So instead of “Brittney!”… it came out, “Buruewn”. My friends eventually turned that into “Brune” (almost like the country!)… and it stuck. But I like it.

Haha, thats a really good one, brune!

aww. I’m not creative…I made mine last year, and this was what came up into my head :-P

My Golden Retriever’s name. I have enough confusing internet aliases as it is, I figured I would keep this one innocuous.

Pictures of him here, he is adorable to no end:

on a side note, wow there are more than 1000 posts on this thread.

on a not-quite-side note, wow there are 13 days till decisions

stupak: I know! I had wanted to ring in the 1000th thread, but yesterday I didn’t have time to go on, and this is such a rocking board :p

name game: my last name is Zutter (pronounced Zooter), and all my friends call me zutsuit, like the song “Zoot Suit Riot.”

and don’t worry EliHopeful – I would’ve been counting/dividing all the numbers if you hadn’t already ;)

almost 13 days…two of my close friends have applied ED to princeton and penn…I was joking with them that we should have a joint celebration/commiseration party on the fifteenth (though the penn one finds out the night before…grr)

thing is, I have to go to a holiday party for my dad’s work the night of the fifteenth, so if I don’t get in I won’t be in a very good mood :stuck_out_tongue: (I’m joking – I’d suck it up so as not to look sulky in front of my dad’s co-workers)
