and do you want to know the ironic part? if i had started one of those ridiculous chances threads, people would have said probably not because i’m not a super applicant. but i do do what i love, love what i do, and LIVE MY LIFE FOR THINGS OTHER THAN COLLEGE ADMISSIONS, and i think THAT is what got me in!

can’t say I’m entirely surprised, though. no one’s gotten into yale from my school in six years–it’s common knowledge that yale just seems to hate us. all three people who applied early were deferred.

pity, though, because three people got into harvard, and my gpa’s higher than all of them.

Oh, and from what I’ve heard, 10% of people who are deferred eventually get in.

Where did you hear what you’ve heard, sphairistic? I’m not arguing, I’m just curious. Thanks, and good luck…hopefully you will buck the trend and get in regular!

Ahh, I can’t find the website right now, but I spotted it when I ran a search for deferred students acceptance rate, I believe. And, I wouldn’t’ve believed it if I hadn’t thought that the website was a reliable source. My friend confirmed that 10% is the rate she heard as well.

as a current yalie who was deferred EA last year, I would HIGHLY recommend sending a letter to yale in January or February saying, essentially, “hey look how much more fantastic I’ve been for the last two months - I got these awards, did this community service, did such and such in such and such an athletic competition, got such and such an average this quarter, got such and such on a music competition, performed in this… blah blah blah.” anyways, it worked for me and I know probably 30 people here who got in after being deferred and even a few who got in after being waitlisted RD so it definitely happens. but you have to MAKE THEM WANT YOU. good luck.

for those of you who got in, CONGRATULATIONS AND WELCOME.
for those of you who did not, believe it or not, there are plenty of other schools out there which are fantastic. yale can be dumb sometimes, too.

You’re right, the Yale supplement hasn’t shown up on the Common App website. No idea why though. But lets make the most of our time :D
