I’m from Michigan.

MTGoddess, you’re an amazing applicant but I think you will be better off if you wait for the regular round of admissions for Yale since you haven’t taken any ofyour standardized tests. I’m not sure whether Yale will receive your required SAT II’s in time for SCEA. You just need to take two SAT II’s for Yale so just take the ones for the two subjects you excel at, preferrably one being Math Level 2. I’m not sure if the rec from the Mock Trial advisor will be overkill or not but I guess it could help if it adds new details about your profile and extent of achievments. Good luck and remember, we’re in this together!!!

noted and appreciated, thanks!
btw…what part of mich are you from? i have relatives in wayne, ann arbor, ypsillanti (sp?), and detroit

suburbs of Detroit

New Jersey!!!

Kansas. Represent.

dirty south

Illinois! .

hi everyone,

i am a student from a very different(at least in turkey) high school!
and i will scea yale too. but my junior year grades really suck, and my sats are not great but i am an international student!! and i am in the IB Diploma program!! i will tell you my scores but please dont make fun of it, because i saw some people’s scores and i was shocked, i could not believe that i will be competing against them!! but anyways i am intl…

satI: read 540, writ 570 and math 630
satII: us history 580 and mathIc 590
toefl: 267 out of 300

and my last year’s gpa was 4.69 out of 5.00

so what do you think? do you think i still have a chance?
please everyone answer me because it is really very important for me!!
thanks

Lawik, go ahead and apply! You probably won’t be accepted with those scores, but it’s worth a try–with a 9% acceptance rate, everyone is in the same boat as you. I probably won’t be accepted either…that’s just how it is…

Lawik—It takes a lot of guts to study overseas. Its a new culture, new diet, new ways of seeing the political acitivity of your country vis-a-vis others. I applaud your willingness to step out of your comfort zone. I say–Go For It!

hello well, i have been to the states for one year as an exchange student, between 2004-2005…

and i am in the IB diploma program…

so do you think i still should aplly scea?
and btw i have wanted yale for 5 years now!!
i mean i am kind of obsessed with ti, but…
really people can everyone please tell me his/her idea about it, because i will need everyone’s decision to make a decision!!!

thanks

and i am kurdish!!
so i am part of the minority group in turkey!
and i think you guys know the kurds’ plight in turkey!!

thanks

Lawik:

I do the International Baccalaureate too…but a helluva distance away from you…Anyway, I am considering applying for Yale at SCEA, not only because it is Yale and its advantages, but especially because they have my favourite course there (Philosophy, Politics and Economics) as well as a great Jewish community and so on… The most important factor, though, is that they do not care about the financial situation, so if I am accepted I don’t have to worry about paying it as I would need to in …Stanford etc.

I still haven’t finished my IB but here are my predicted scores:

English A1 Higher Level: 6
Geography Higher Level: 7
French B Higher Level: 7
Portuguese A1 Standard Level: 7
Mathematics Methods: 7
Physics Standard Level: 6

Theory of Knowledge: A
Extended Essay (on Geography, relation between Brazil & Bolivia with reference to globalisation and the nationalisation of Brazilian industries in Bolivia): A

Total Predicted: 43

On the SATs, I still haven’t done them, but my first practice test gave a 1920, but I have 3 months to study hard and I am aiming for a 2250 score. On the SAT IIs, I am getting at least a 750 on each (Literature, Maths Level 2 and French/Hebrew)

njcanen, so do you think being in the IB will foster our chance?
and what do you think about my chance of getting accepted into yale?
you think i have a chance? i just wonder it

I’m new around these parts, mostly because I’m still wavering on whether or not to apply EA. I probably will, though.

I’m not big on stats posts, but I’m from Colorado, a senior at a public magnet school for the arts. We don’t get many applying to the ivies around this school :)

^Go Ryan!!!:)

Most definitely (if you get a good grade :D). Many universities, including Stanford, give tons of credits for people who have done the IBs jsut because of how tough it is compared to the American system. Theoretically, as long as I get an average score like 2200, with my IBs I should easily be in…

Yea, I think you have a good chance too
