Official Yale EA 2013 Hopeful Thread

seriously. getting into yale EA would be the best day of my and most of our lives.

what if you guys got in? would you send any more applications? I think I would just send in Harvard RD and a safe school. screw everyone else.

^ what’s the point of a safety school if you’re already into Yale?
As for me, the only other school I’d apply to is Princeton RD if I got into Yale EA (everyone wants me to go to Pton because we haven’t sent anyone from my HS in 20 years, but we send kids to all the other Ivies)

well, my parents would be (are) afraid of getting a bad fin aid offer, so they would make me apply just in case.

but you can bet no matter what im attending yale if i get in.

if i do get in early, then i’m applying to harvard, columbia, and NYU

i’ll pull my apps from penn and usc :)

If I get in, I won’t be applying anywhere else.

This thread is sending my anxiety levels through the roof. How are you all handling the application process and regular schoolwork? I feel like my Yale application is hanging over my head, but I just can’t seem to get started…

Hang in there everyone - these next three months are going to SUCK - especially if we end up getting rejected/deferred EA.

yes. I will be one of those people. What’ll suck most for me is teaching myself chem and physics so I can add so high Science SAT 2’s to my 800 math2 and 770 US history. Once those are over, though, things won’t be so bad.

jeez - don’t you only need two SAT IIs to apply to Yale and aren’t SAT II’s not that important? I got 790 in US HIst and 790 in Lit but only 720 in Math II - am I screwed?

Relax. You just said yourself SAT II’s aren’t that important. Do you really lack that much self confidence that you can’t stick by something you said literally two sentences prior? It’s not like a 720 is a bad score, anyway.

I have two short answers done. They are each one sentence. Think of them as haiku! Say as much as you can with as few words.

i have all the short takes done!!

<3333

If I get in, I’ll only apply to Harvard and Johns Hopkins (also maybe Stanford and MIT, but I doubt it).

But I’m so disappointed in Yale’s Supplement. I can’t believe they’re making us write yet another essay…ugh!

those short takes freak me out. Should they be complete sentences? And what types of answers are they looking for?

grc - yes, they want you to write in complete sentences. The point is how to get your answer across concisely without resorting to improper english. on types of answers, I don’t know. Just show them who you are…each of those questions can summarize your personality in 25 words. but thats my opinion on it.

It wouldn’t be SO bad if I got deferred, but I realize its the “end of the world” for a lot of people. at least they consider you competitive in some way, so you might have a chance at the other ivys. However, getting rejected…I don’t know. It would probably kill my hopes for ivy acceptance.

Yeah, I’d be completely happy with Cornell or Hopkins. Just to clarify-those SAT II science tests are for the sake of MIT and Brown’s PLME, not for Yale.

Answer to my question? (1st page)

^ 2nd option is what you should do

If I get in EA, I’ll probs only apply to Harvard. But I haven’t visited very many schools. If I see on I like, I’ll apply there RD too. I was going to apply to Princeton, but the more I hear about it, the more and more I dislike it (even though I visited).

I’m so scared to embark on the Short Takes…

yeah, I feel I took on my short takes in too much of a literal, honest sense. Probably not intellectual enough. Crap…

Colinization- Funny… my school matriculates at least 2 to princeton every year, but nobody has gotten into yale for over a decade.

has anyone completely finished their Application for Yale? (common app, supplement, essays…everything)
