Offline roadmaps/apps for iPad?

<p>I’m hoping to find a USA/Canada/Mexico atlas app or map that I can load onto my iPad and be able to use offline (without having to connect to WiFi). It would be something I hope to use on recreational roadtrips, etc.</p>

<p>I suppose I can look up my routes beforehand on Google Map application - and then take a screenshot of it, but is there a better alternative? I haven’t really found anything by myself. One which has gotten lots of good reviews is Galileo - but apparently that one requires you to preload the maps? So I guess it would be just like taking screenshots myself?</p>

<p>Tangentially - are there any download pdf “e-books” road atlases available anywhere? And while we’re at it - what are some of your favorite “offline” non game applications for iPad?</p>

<p>Actually I think I just found something promising (and it’s free too!) called “You Need a Map”. Expectedly, it’s a gigantic app (almost 2 gigs) so it’s taking quite the while to download. I’ll report back after it’s done :)</p>
