Oh, no! Not another rationing!

They make it sound so… dramatic:

[Kellogg is rationing its Eggo products due to flooding and equipment problems](http://finance.yahoo.com/family-home/article/108191/leggo-your-eggo-theres-a-waffle-shortage)

For some reason, I don’t feel the urge to run and buy a few packages. :)

Ha, it sounds like national emergency!
"we are working around the clock to restore production "

I don’t think I ever bought them…

Easy dinner at our house: Whole grain eggos with fresh strawberries (or frozen ones in the winter) with a little whipped cream.

Sorry about the flooding, but what a wonderful gimmick. By telling people that they might not be able to have something, they may want it more! Also, they are creating an emergency, hoping that more people run to purchase the product. Great maketing, but I worked in sales for years!

Remember the rice shortage a few months ago? Rice sales al a local Costco went through the roof!

OMG - must rush out to the grocery store an buy Eggos!!! Or not.

Actually I did notice in Walmart on Sunday that they had no buttermilk Eggos (which seem to be the most numerous usually) but more of the other types. We bought an off brand that was cheaper - just tried them and have to admit they are not as good as Eggos. But I can manage without them for a while.

Oh, yes, I forgot about the rice shortage!! Remember the Y2K emergency? Lots of stuff was sold because of that emergency, although a bit more serious at the time than a shortage of Eggos to meet any cravings that I might have, LOL.

swimcatsmom, are you absolutely sure that your family will survive without the Eggos that you prefer? I completely understand that no other brand would be satisfactory.

Well, in all seriousness, Eggos do taste best. We have tried others, they just sit in the freezer after the first meal. Lots of things are fine in generic form… but not Eggos. Hmm, maybe I’d better stop by the store and stock up tonight.

“Leggo my Eggo, or I’ll kill you.” Maybe that will be their new slogan!

^ Lmao Hunt. The sad thing is, I said that to my boyfriend one time when there was only one waffle left and he tried to take it. I was not a happy camper that day.

Go generic! Our kids HATED EGGO’s…but they loved the cheapest generic frozen waffles on the market.

Actually, as the mother of a child with sensory/texture issues (and yes we are working on them) whose best breakfast choice is eggos, I noticed a few weeks ago that my local store was low on them. (like not having any at all). I thought it was either a gimmick to get people to buy store brand or some distribution glitch.

Costco seemed to have plenty yesterday. I did hoard – when you take them out of the box they don’t take up so much room.

This weekend, I will make up a batch of homemade and see how those do…

My younger D will not be happy. She doesn’t like any brand but Eggo. Her favorite is the Cinnamon Toast flavor.

I sheepishly admit I went out today and bought…canned pumpkin. I also heard the Eggo story but paid more attention to a similar news story this morning forecasting a canned pumpkin shortage this holiday season. Apparently, bad weather/flooding has significantly impacted pumpkin farms and canned pumpkin may not last through the upcoming holidays. Since I am hosting the extended family for the holidays and they all love pumpkin pie, I am now ready with my personal stockpile of canned pumpkin. :)

…off to the store for some canned pumpkin :)

Last Christmas I got a waffle maker from…the kids! It was a subtle hint, I thought.
Now I make fresh waffles about twice a month. They are big and fill you up really fast. Have never frozen them though. Maybe I should try ?

We make fresh waffles - gave that to hubby as a father’s day present. We are not worried.

Kelowna- Eggos aren’t a replacement for fresh waffles. They are what I turn to when my D is running late in the morning. I can pop 2 in the toaster, butter them and stick them in a paper towel. She can eat them in the car. Luckily she doesn’t eat them with syrup.
You could freeze the fresh. Would they fit in your toaster to reheat?
When I make pancakes I sometimes freeze the leftovers, a quick heat in the microwave and they are pretty tasty.

^^ nope, they would not fit in the toaster. Not unless I break them apart
Never thought about freezing pancakes - will have to try…

Pancakes - not waffles - in this household. I love to make pancakes, and they do freeze well. I have to say that “Leggo my Eggo” is the best slogan in the world that I love to hate.

Stephen Colbert is doing a segment on this now. He has called on President Obama to open up the strategic waffle reserve.
