I sat next to him on a plane once. Not a friendly guy. He kept hiding what he was writing like I was trying to look at it, which I wasn’t.

^^^Okay, well, some people don’t like to be “friendly” with total strangers on an airplane. I really dislike small talk with people on airplanes, and I’m not a celebrity with all the baggage that comes with that. Guess that makes me “unfriendly” too.

Not to derail the thread, but I always say at least “Hello” or “looks like a nice day for flying” or some such pleasantries. Then I shut up unless they want to talk more. Don’t most people?
