[Why Occupy Wall Street Hates the Big Banks - The Daily Beast](<a href=“Why Occupy Wall Street Hates the Big Banks”>Why Occupy Wall Street Hates the Big Banks)

NewHope33…that is one of the better articles I have read about the banks…

Looks to me that there were and are quite a few crimes committed…fraud…bribery…manipulating markets…etc…

Yet…the people that run these banks and the people that have committed these crimes not only get off scott- free…and they get bailed out by the government…after causing damage to the economy that may last for decades.

The people committed these crimes have brain issues…there brains are abnormal, and not in a good way…

Parts of their brains are non-existent…or very small…

They probably should be locked up before they harm anybody else…

Manipulating markets??? Hmmm, Ben stating the FED is going to keep interest rates low for an extended period of time is not doing the same?

A common thread running through each litany of illegal behavior was lack of management controls. There’s no way the CEOs of these banks told managers “Yeah it’s illegal to bribe city officials, but go ahead and do it.”

Just one more reason these behemoths need to be “right-sized.”

Has anyone seen “Margin Call” yet?

Cartera, do tell. Is it a movie?

No qdogpa…

But let me get this straight…

A brokerage firm rips off your community for a hundred million dollars…and that is ok because the government is involved in the markets?

The government supports sugar prices.

So is it ok for me to go to a store and steal candy bars?

Cartera45… What did you think of the movie?

NewHope33… Good luck on making the big banks smaller…

Which brokerage firm ripped off the community?

I haven’t seen it but will do so. It is loosely based on a day in the life of Lehman Bros once it is realized that the mess they created is taking them down. This review explains it better than I can.

[?Margin Call,? With Zachary Quinto - Review - NYTimes.com](‘Margin Call,’ With Zachary Quinto - Review - The New York Times)

Just read the article…Qdogpa…

That was some sweet review from A. O. Scott in the NYT. Great cast - Kevin Spacey, Jeremy Irons, Paul Bettany, Stanley Tucci. It’s considered an art film so I doubt it’s coming soon to a theater near me, but I’m looking forward to seeing it when I can.

I think it is on demand for comcast subscribers…

Oohh - it is On Demand. I’m going to watch it now.

Nice! I will have to look it up. Thanks, cartera and dstark!

Large businesses will always have some bad actors. It simply amazes me that you folks condemn banks for giving out loans when that is their primary business, but have no problem with people who promise replay those loans but fail to do so.

None of these banks forced people to come into their institutions and borrow money. The people wanted money and promised to repay the debts.

The article is mostly bull mixed with a few facts to make the bull sound like truth.

For years minority communities complained that banks would not lend to them. Now people complain about “ghetto loans” where banks are trying to lend money like they were supposed to do so. And how is the unemployment rate among minorities now that ghetto loans are not available to fund businesses?

Not a Comcast customer but I can watch it on Amazon for just 7 bucks. There’s my Saturday afternoon.

Really razor-sharp…what is bull…that people qualified for prime loans and were given sub prime loans instead?

Nobody is complaining about banks giving out loans…

That is a straw man bs argument…

Good article, but there are many culprits in the fiasco, not just the banks…and what does everyone think about Ben’s keeping interest rates low, which pushes investment money in search of yield, and moves the stock market higher and higher, to allow the public to feel they have more money, so they then will spend more to lift the economy…talk about being Madoff’ed

My bet is many more people didn’t qualify for ANY loan, but were given loans anyway…and razorsharp is right, many people took loans and they never considerd or asked what the ramifications of interest rate increases would be…Banks guilty, without question, but to give John Q Public a pass is pathetic
