O'Hare airpot

Today is the worst D has ever seen it. Apparently a lot of flights are being delayed by air traffic control.

In general, she’s had very good luck flying through O’Hare. Today, she had to go “…from the farthest Godforsaken corner of Terminal 3 to Terminal 1, having to go around people every step of the way…”

O’Hare is kind of like your mother-in-law. You love her, but…holidays? Oy! :p

oh my gosh… I saw another thread where I posted about this, then scrolled down and saw this. What a riot. Yep, been there, done that, and am glad we’re done for today. Have to return tomorrow for D2.

DFW was already haven’t problems today. I pick up D at 4:40 Tuesday. Probably be 8:00.

I hate this airport with a passion. In april they had us sitting on the tarmac for like two hours after having our flight delayed two hours. AWFUL! Hopefully some of those new strategies for getting flights through will be implemented soon.

I pick up S at Burbank Wednesday morning. Just got off the phone with him… mentioned to get to the airport early, really early. I’ll take Burbank over LAX any day.

Changing planes this week has got the potential to be an out-of-body experience for all those travelers. My very best thoughts to everyone going through it.

I paid extra this year for a direct flight from coast to coast for the kid who’s coming in this week. I just couldn’t fathom him having to deal with the crowds changing planes. Just get on one plane with a carry-on bag only and eventually that plane will take off and then eventually it will land on the other side of the country where we will be waiting to drive him home as he walks off the plane with his carry-on in hand… at least that’s the way I’m hoping it will go. :)

I can already predict son’s plane tomorrow night will probably not land in Santa Barbara due to fog. The same flight tonight was cancelled. Fog in the forecast tomorrow as well. Will push son to try to get to the airport early and try to get on an earlier flight.

In order for my son to get to CA last Thanksgiving he flew from Wisconsin to Georgia via O’Hare to SFO. Mind you, it was a free ticket. Nevertheless, he is NOT flying this year. He’s driving to rural Minnesota where his GF’s parents make maple syrup from the trees on their land and it will be his first very American Thanksgiving and I am a wee bit jealous. However, I have found a turkey and plan a feast over here with my 98 year-old mom No planes for us either. No O’Hare I hope ever again. I prefer going through Minneapolis or Detroit if I am in that neck of the woods.

Don’t fly through ORD or DEN in the winter, and don’t fly through DFW in the summer. It’s a law.

WashDadJr is flying non-stop Albuquerque to SeaTac. Hope he makes it…

All I can say is THIS year, ldgirl has a direct flight from RDU to IAH. No more overnight O’Hare experiences for her. Fog has been a big problem here too.

Heh. O’Hare airpot. Serving double-strength coffee? Heh.

The drug-sniffing dogs must be taking the holiday week off.

Last minute ticket Boston-Seattle so the golden grandchild can spend his (probably) last T-day with grandpa - extra $200 to avoid O’Hare. Getting to where you’re going on Thanksgiving - priceless.

On a different note – is anyone’s kid having issues with the northeastern airports? I’m seeing reports of rain in the northeast, which should be no big deal but it seems like a drop of precipitation can wreak havoc around the nyc airports. Don’t know if the rain is accompanied by fog though. Hope everyones kids get home easily!

I’m hoping weather is good around NYC tomorrow evening… I’m flying home for Thanksgiving out of Newark, and that’s a pain in the *ss at the best of times.

1of42, you’ll be passing my son somewhere in Newark, if you see a 6’6" guy with a cream-colored duffle bag and long blond hair, startle him by saying something about CC. :)

My three rules for flying:

Don’t check luggage

Never connect through O’Hare

Checking luggage AND connecting through O’Hare is just asking for it

why can’t we just move Thanksgiving to say, May or June?

Guilty of #3 and ldgirl paid the price last year… !

coureur is right…don’t do it.
