2cakes - yes, it’s bad here now - very limited visibility. However, my weatherbug just told me that we will be under a snow advisory tomorrow beginning at 5PM, so getting out of O’Hare to anywhere is preferable at this point.

I wish my D had that option…her Delta flight was cancelled from Midway to LGA tonight and she’s booked out at 7am tomorrow. She took a cab back to campus and will return to the airport at 5am tomorrow. There were no other flights to the NY area out of Midway tonight. I’d have settled for Newark…

Good luck Mom60. Santa Barbara’s a nice little airport but, yeah, the fog. It’s weird for November. How can they be saying fog and Santa Anas in the same 24-hour period? Strange. I’m really hoping S doesn’t miss his flight. He tends to cut everything really close. And he has to catch the BART, then a bus, then a plane. Yikes.

He called and is on the plane. Yeah. Mine also cuts it short so I was thrilled he made it.
I asked if he had a bag to check and he said no he just had his backpack with laptop and his clothes in an oversized ziplock bag. Boys!
Good luck tomorrow

S#2 and I have 40 minutes to change planes at O’Hare Sunday evening. Yeah, RIGHT. I’m trying to decide if I should pack a pillow in the only bag I will be packing and carrying with me at all times (I did NOT make these arrangements).
What are the chances I’ll make it to the Pacific Northwest before noon on Monday?

D’s plane delayed in Memphis about 30 minutes, and made it all up in the air to DFW. Dad was about 180 seconds late (thinking I was 30 minutes early). D said her plane was full of Rhodes kids. She counted 12. LOL.

Just got back from picking up my daughter from ORD. Her flight which was supposed to arrive at 8:02, came in at 10:45 pm. I guess we should consider ourselves lucky that she arrived at all. Last time, I swear, I ever book an evening flight into O’Hare. As God as my witness, all flights will be before noon from this day forward. Good night!

Leaving now for Hartford. DD got to LaGuardia last night from ORD and stayed in New Haven with friend. Friend’s luggage is in Hartford so I will meet them there. 2 hr drve each way. Must pick up salmon for dinner. Must be back in time for Dr. appt.
Next year, I’m giving her the airfare and sending her to a spa in Chicago for the weekend!

Good luck to you all who are traveling this weekend!

Here’s another website to track delays and de-icing.

DS got to the PIT airport so early yesterday that he got on the next earlier flight to ORD as a standby (it was already delayed an hour) - they even had to open the airplane door to let him on the plane but we are extremely grateful to the gate attendant who helped him. His original flight was delayed two hours - so he was home 4 hours earlier than he would have been - in time for dinner, actually. He’s a lucky traveler!

S got into Burbank right on time! Yay! Good luck to all the OHare kids and parents. And Happy Thanksgiving!

WashDadJr landed 10 minutes early, and we were out of the airport and home in 45 minutes. I understand that SeaTac got much worse after noon.

S had same good fortune as Marilyn’s son! Got earlier flight out of St. Louis (standby), which was a good thing as his scheduled flight had mechanical difficulties and he would have missed his connection in ORD. Got on an earlier flight out of ORD and came home several hours earlier than expected.

He didn’t have time to call until arriving in Chicago and boarding his plane there; so I only had about 20 minutes before leaving for the airport–driving through our first snowstorm of the season. When he came down the airport stairs wearing sandals and shorts, I knew nothing had changed!

The city bus system in Columbus runs a special bus between OSU and the airport around the holidays. Unfortunately they assigned a new driver yesterday and he ran the route incorrectly and skipped D’s stop. She called me and I called the bus company. First guy was rude and hung up on me saying D would have more trouble with the airport than the bus. (huh?) I called back and spoke with a nice woman who actually took the time to radio the driver and sort it out.

Luckily D had headed to the stop with enough extra time that the next bus (now going to all the stops) got her to the airport with no problem. From drop-off to gate, it took only 12 minutes!

But the departure was delayed an hour anyway.

My d. flew Wednesday morning (9:30 a.m.) from Hartford to DC and says the plane was virtually empty, with four empty seats in her 6-person row. Plane was exactly on time. My brother flew from JFK to West Palm Beach on Wednesday, says there were plenty of empty seats and the plane got it almost half an hour early.

We got lucky this time. Both our plane and D’s plane took off and landed ON TIME at SEA/TAC. Our gate was just 2 away from D’s so I waited the 20 min for D while H and S went to get the baggage. When D and I met the rest of our crew at baggage claim, they were waiting for us with all of our bags. Avis rental car was no problem too. Sunny weather (first time for us in Seattle) and only minor traffic just outside of Airport. Truly a great travel experience.
