Ohhhhhnoooo! Chances for a student?

A few notes beforehand:

I’m in the guinea pig generation; aka, I’m in the first ever IB class, and the program’s kind of not turning out well for the school so far.

I’m Asian, female, born in Taiwan but technically a citizen

I’m now a senior; class of 2011. I plan to bring my grades up. MAJORLY.

I’m also taking two college classes at Pitzer College for the summer right now.

‘Dream’ Schools: Pomona, UC Berkeley, Pitzer, Scripps

Also: UCSD, UCI, UCSB, UCD

I’m still not too sure what schools might be great for me to apply to, but these schools are the ones I’m sure I’m thinking of applying to. I’m thinking of double majoring, possibly; history and biology? History and International relations? Definitely having history in there.

ECs:

Speech and Debate all 4 years: Current Treasurer

Volunteering for the past two summers for a debate camp
Played the Violin for the past 5, 6 years

Oh: ACT was a 32.

You’re most likely in at UCSD, UCI, UCSB, and UCD.

You have a shot at Pitzer, Scripps, Pomona and UCB, but as you said, they’re dream schools. So you might get accepted, you might not. Do you have any explanation as to why your grades are so low? If it’s something seriously life changing or threatening, make an essay out of it, and your chances will dramatically increase. Because right now your grades don’t exactly correlate with your test scores at all. So just cross your fingers, there’s not much you can do now(besides write your essay). good luck :)

youre gonna be fine dont worry about it at all, whats your gpa Weighted and unweighted?

Hm…alright. Thanks for the input! As for my grades; let’s just say I didn’t expect the IB programme’s maiden run to be so…unorganized and just a lot of admin-student communication issues. Sheepish smile Don’t know if that’s a good explanation, though. Would applying early decision to Pomona, Scripps, or Pitzer help a little bit? I’m curious.

@SH4DOZ

Unweighted: 3.5
Weighted: Not sure. School shows unweighted, but that’s with the summer school classes, the classes from 8th grade…it’s a little inflated. With all that junk, it’s about a 3.8 or 3.9; my ‘unweighted’ score is about a 3.5 anyways.

'I’m still not too sure what schools might be great for me to apply to"

Have you considered UCLA?

@mizvolta: Actually, that’s an idea. In addition, I’m not too sure what other privates or public colleges I can go to, because I’m most familiar with the ones here in California; I’m not sure about heading to the East Coast, though it’s a thought, and I’m curious to what other colleges might be an option.

Holy Cross and Tufts are 2 very good Eastern colleges with strong science programs.

Hey, guys, some updates:
GPA
3.5455
Weighted GPA
3.8864
Rank
87/665
My US History SAT II was a 760, not a 770

College List I might have:
Scripps

Pomona

McKenna

Pitzer

Harvey Mudd

Brown University

Stanford

UC - Berkeley, SD, LA

Swarthmore

Amherst

Northwestern University

University of Pennsylvania

Washington University in St. Louis

University of Chicago

Comment? The drop in my grades WERE from a mishandling of the IB programme, after all, and I took two college classes at Pitzer in history last summer.
