Did you get any scholarships?
Hey guys, so below are my stats, I got deferred. I am still waiting on their final decision. OSU is my dream school and I really don’t want to get rejected but still not hearing from them is really concerning. What do you guys think my chances are?
I know its my ACT score that got me differed in the first place, but I am keeping my fingers crossed on the holistic review. Also, I asked my counselor if they needed my mid-year report and she said no because it was not mentioned on the portal. I don’t know if I should have emailed them either way and I kinda regret it now. Do you think it is going to impact me and if not is it too late to send them in?
Residency: In-State
Application: EA (Nov 1st)
Major: Computer Information Science- College of Arts and Science
GPA: 4.2570/4
ACT: 25
Extra curricular: ton of leadership positions and meaningful involvement in clubs and several internships.
Courses: Honors(9), AP(8), Dual(5) overall most of them pertaining to my major.
I was also deferred in January, but I was accepted last Friday. I had a 3.6 and a 21 ACT and was accepted so you still have a good chance and your gpa is solid you should be fine!
I feel like you’ll get in @PerfImp2002
Our stats are pretty similar. Same ACT score. My GPA is lower at 3.96. Only thing is is our majors differ. Computer Science is def different than an Athletic Training Pre-Major. I still think you’ll get in tho :)!
@wassupBrina @cowboylover49 thank you so much. It means a lot to hear that validation. I just hope I get my decision today around 7. I checked rn its still deferred.
Are you in-state or out of state?
@perflmp2002 have you received any news yet?
@cowboylover49 were you first generational? in state or out of state?
I’m OOS (Maryland) and I’m not first generation, my mom graduated from OSU.
Is it weird I still haven’t heard back? 34 ACT and 3.5 weighted gpa with a Difficult coarse load but was deferred little over a month ago. It’s March 30 and I thought I was supposed to hear by end of March. Will I get in? It’s my dream school so I’m nervous
I’m still waiting as well. OSU is my first pick. Been accepted to Miami (Ohio) into Farmer School of Business, Fordham Gabelli School, and OU Business. Was deferred on Dec 20, the same day Miami admitted me. Anyway, I’ve been checking the portal daily. No mail, no nothing from OSU. I’m beginning to think things aren’t looking promising as far as being admitted to the Columbus campus. Considering attending Newark for a year and making the transfer. I just don’t know if that is a better idea than going elsewhere and transferring in. I’m the kind of person that likes to stay somewhere once I get settled and making the most of it. My GPA is the only thing really holding me down there. 3.3 weighted. 29 ACT. In State. My EC’s are strong and my Classes are Honors and AP and College Credit Plus.
would expect you both to be in good shape…
@pickle9711 I haven’t yet. I am an in-state student and not first generation. @beanboi25 you are very likely to get in so it’s just a matter of few hours till we find out. @moondog I was in the same position as you, since I was so fixated on OSU that I was ready to attend a regional campus, but now that I have more highly ranked OOS schools offering me acceptance I am leaning towards not attending the regional campus. I would suggest that if your program at OSU is the best option you have compared to all the other schools you applied too, transfer to main campus after a year, but just because it is your dream school it is not necessarily suppose to me the most practical choice. After all we all go to college for only 4-5 years and spending one year in the middle of nowhere is going to not be easy especially in the beginning years.
got in!! GO BUCKS!!
Thanks for everyone’s support on here. Was admitted today to the Columbus campus around 4. Good luck to everyone!
I got accepted from deferral 2 weeks ago. I am definitely more than eligible for the National Buckeye scholarship at least. 78th percentile and 32 ACT when I applied for EA, and it went up to 81st percentile and 33 ACT by the end of first semester senior year. I got my financial aid letter back and didn’t get any scholarships. Does anyone know if students who are deferred still get considered for merit-based scholarships? I emailed them a couple days ago, still awaiting a response.
I think merit scholarships went out a month or so ago…received national buckeye in February timeframe…I think merit money has been sent out already…
@pmoneylover what is your GPA and ACT/SAT score? @mcc1970, same question on GPA and ACT/SAT score. Trying to figure out how things look on deferrals…
would think deferrals have good shot at admission this year more so than others…
@DG agreed. I’m just wondering more specifically what stats people who are getting in off of the deferral list have. We have a friend who is on the list and wondering what his chances are…
