Someone I know who had multiple kids accepted to Ohio State in recent years said the two different notification dates have to do with major. Of course there are many rumors about college admissions and I don’t think anyone really knows because it all does seem very random. But if anyone applying for Public Health gets a decision today, lmk!

My daughter ran into a friend at the gym whose brother’s neighbor’s uncle’s friend works in Ohio State admissions. He reports that acceptances will come out by major times distance divided by interest squared by GPA and applicants will be notified on the quarter hour beginning at 7:22.

I am an engineering major and got the email today. I know lots of other STEM majors that got the email. I also know of a lot of people that didn’t get the email today. I think if you get the email today you will get your decision today.

My kiddo was rejected, just saw it now. We did NOT get an email. He applied for Business (it was a reach for him so not surprised)

so it says we can’t offer admission, but i haven’t gotten a full email yet. any chance i could recieve a deferred email instead of straight rejection? or would it say deferred in the 2 sentences in the portal

“College Credit Plus” which is what the state-spoonsored dual-enrollment is called in Ohio.

I took it as a rejection in my son’s portal.

It will say “deferred” under status. My middle son got that 3 years ago and then was admitted in March

No problem at all. He has a 3.55 unweighted and a 1280 SAT, lopsided with a 700 in math. Good/ great EC and I am sure good LORs, but I knew with both the SAT and GPA below their medians there was pretty much no way. When I applied to college a friend/ classmate DID get accidentally accepted to a school and she accepted immediately- they reached out and said “we think you would struggle here, you should reconsider” but she said- whatever, I am GOING and she did. So while I wouldn’t let my kiddo apply to crazy reach schools he couldn’t handle, I say go for it! for applying.

I more wanted to let everyone else here know- I know what the anxiety is like- and that we DID get a decision and we did NOT get an email . . . so they draw their own conclusions but personally I would take getting an email as a great sign!
