S24 also an email informing him of admission to the honors program late on Friday the 15th.

He was accepted on the 8th and received an email with his admission news early on the morning of the 9th.

My S22 was also admitted in December (around the 10th) but received his honors admission notification only a month later (~January 15th).

Does anyone know how you are notified of merit (do you have to check portal or is it email) and when it possibly could come after acceptance? Thanks!

I think that might be a part of the physical packet you get in the mail, but not totally sure.

Be sure to do step 3, applying to Scholarship Universe

Step 5 “Financial aid notifications for newly admitted students are available to view online in late March.”

In past cycles, National Buckeye, Maximist, etc. tended to come out first on a rolling basis. The larger scholarships come out on their own separate timelines, like Stamps Eminence after interviews. The College/Department scholarships are still accepting applications (see Scholarship Universe info. above) so those are awarded later.

In other words, we didn’t have a complete picture until early spring. Be prepared to wait.

Aren’t financial aid and merit two separate things? And two separate processes?

“The university offers hundreds of special-eligibility scholarships with a wide variety of eligibility criteria.”

I think most colleges/departments have moved their applications to Scholarship Universe, but just in case double check the department website.

"Departmental scholarships

Some Ohio State colleges and departments offer scholarships or grants not included in ScholarshipUniverse. Contact your college office or review departmental scholarships for details." from Scholarships - Incoming Freshmen - The Ohio State University

no, merit is not in the physical packet.

Financial aid is need based, merit based or a combination of merit and need.

The financial aid office will also apply external scholarships paid on the student’s behalf, which could have been awarded based on need, merit or a combination of need and merit.

Be sure to file the FAFSA to be eligible for need based awards, federal work-study and federal student loans.

Same here got letter today from OSU, UKY,UD, MIAMI Ohio and WSU

Pretty sure Merit comes in February.

My kid got deferred, does anyone know if it’s possible to change their major or if it would help to try and do so for RD?

This is from the ohio state website and what I have been told from my friend that works for admission: We first review applications on a major-blind basis, determining your admission to the Ohio State University. If you are admitted to the University, then your admission to Fisher is considered. We are a direct admit College, meaning if you are admitted into OSU Columbus campus, you are directly admitted into Fisher College of Business.

Here is more info but if you are admitted into OSU but not major you go into exploratoryhttps://undergrad.osu.edu/apply/freshmen-columbus/who-gets-in/enrollment-criteria

I have that already. They usually do not scan the bigger envelopes or newspapers. Our Buckeye Bound envelope finally arrived on Monday and was not a part of my daily email from USPS.

Can you put a housing deposit down to get preferred housing before accepting admission? Or do you need to accept first?
