Ok Fashionistas, I have a question for you.

And at 5’10 I love both the longer cardigans and the waterfall cardigans I have added the past 3 years. Not a fan of the bell sleeves however…not too practical in the office.

I’m drawn to updated classics and will invest more in clothing likely to have a long shelf life. Trends can have a place without defining one’s wardrobe and there are always more and less conservative variations on a trend without being a slave to it. Animal print is an example of something I’ve always disliked, but can appreciate in very small accents. I’ll incorporate trends into accessories, but again nothing over the top. Halbrook has good examples of the kind of clothes and accessories I like these days.

I do like bell sleeves as long as they aren’t too wide. I was never big on infinity scarves - always found them too bulky. I have several duster (long length) cardigans and various asymmetric tops and sweaters.

Cold shoulder is the only version of the low cut/cut out trend I’ll wear. I just bought a very cute cardigan with tiny cutouts along the shoulder.

I haven’t seen French nails around here for years, especially with the wide white tips.

I have a fairly inexpensive zebra print cardigan which I got for a zebra themed party, but it’s fun to wear from time to time. I’m not normally a fan of animal prints at all. I have a lot of long cardigans - I’m glad they are still in style.

Do you think leg warmers will ever become fashionable again? Or those cute shorter haircuts for girls in the 1980’s? (More Meg Ryan than Farrah Fawcett). Stirrup pants? Vests on women?

Does anyone else feel ridiculous in scarves?!?

I want to like them, and love them on other women (and some men!) but as for me - nope. Cannot pull it off.

My 30-somthing niece who is a fashionista just got her long hair trimmed short, so I think that may be fashionable, since she tends to be.

It seems like shorter hair is coming back.

Here ya go @mathmom

I don’t remember wearing the straps on the outsides of shoes.

Yes, I noticed that too. Have not previously seen the stirrup outside shoes either. I’ve never bought stirrup pants and plan to continue to avoid purchasing them.

Vests on women?

I just ordered a vest from Woolrich yesterday. I love it. It has cute sheep on it :)) And this thread made me to do it because I felt the urge to embrace my non-fashionista style.

@SouthFloridaMom9 , I feel ridiculous in scarves!!! Just have never been a scarf person - guess it’s an accessory I save $$ on!

Scarves really do help me feel warmer and make me feel I have made my travel outfits a bit different than same outfit many days. I rarely use them in HI but do use them for travel, especially if it’s cold.

I wear scarves with winter coats, but have never been any good at wearing the decorative ones. They’ve been fashionable in one form or another since at least the 70s.

I embraced scarves only a few years ago…I also didn’t feel they were “me.” Now I just love them, to dress up the minimal basics that are my everyday fare. I rarely tie them in any elaborate way…that makes me feel fussy or even stodgy. I like them draped casually or just thrown around my my neck untied in a devil-may-care way and imagine I’m a free-spirited artiste, lol. I usually like them a little long and narrow. I have them in rustic cottons, from batiks to brocade, silks, and burned velvet etc. I keep my favorites on a row of pegs near the door to throw on as the mood, weather and my outfit dictate. (And the few wide, bulky ones are useful when I go braless for comfort in the house and someone unexpectedly knocks on the door  )

Remember Nora Ephron’s “I Feel Bad About My Neck: And Other Thoughts on Being a Woman”? The scarf conversation made me think about that book. I love scarves because I get too hot in sweaters with high necks, but can wear a thin crew neck sweater or shirt and regulate my temperature with a scarf, wearing it high or low, tight or loose.

I adore scarves, I love the flexibility they give me. When I travel I always have a scarf and can easily warm up or cool down as circumstances change. I now live in an area much much cooler than where I grew up, I love being able to use scarves and coats and gloves! I like those pashima weight scarves, thin soft fabric.

I buy a ton from Soft Surroudings. They have jean leggings that look and feel like jeans but have the ease of a legging. They also have real jeans that are very comfy. I wear a lot of their tops and always get compliments. It’s more pricy than a Kohls but not designer expensive.

I dislike bell sleeves and cold shoulders for the same reason: they are cold! You can’t wear anything over bell sleeves, so unless the room is well heated in winter, they will not be comfortable.
