<p>I am sick of snow. At this time in 2008 (the year my son graduated from HS), I was sick from high school. It was a long winter. I’ll take the snow over the last semester of high school.</p>

<p>This just in from Montgomery County Maryland Public Schools: No school Monday or Tuesday. With the 6 inches we are supposed to get on Tues/Wed. we could be stuck at home with the kids until Thursday or Friday. I’m just glad Happykid is over her bout with the flu. I can shove her out into the snow and have some quiet time - provided of course that Happydad makes a successful escape to his workplace!</p>

<p>Pittsburgh and many suburban districts are closed tomorrow too. D is supposed to fly into Dulles at 6 AM tomorrow, and Dulles is just supposed to reopen at 6 AM. I told her if she gets cancelled to try to fly into PIT instead and I would drive her to DC!</p>

<p>OP, we got, depending on who you believe between 18" and 25". Murphy had a field day in that my snow plough wouldn’t start. I have a sore hip, sore shoulder, sore wrist, and a sore temperament.</p>

<p>Did not even have to make mine - she did it on purpose in HS! Once she even convinced me to buy her two pairs of cheap sneakers in two different HS colors so she could wear color-mismatched shoes to school! :)</p>
<p>I really feel your pain! We have been dumped on last winter (more than 2 feet of snow at my place), but this one so far have been one of the mildest winters on record. I bet we are going to pay for it this summer! Or if this pattern of nice weather continues, the rest of the US will migrate to WA and OR!</p>
<p>One of the mildest winters?? Bunsen, where are you? I keep thinking this is one of the worst<a href=“as%20in%20coldest”>/u</a> winters ever. Or maybe my blood is getting too thin.</p>
<p>Pacific Northwest is dry due to El Nino. It’s why Vancouver has no snow! </p>
<p>Anyway, I’m hearing about this other storm coming up and I’m not happy…so yeah, I’m sick of this. Although I must say that today, with the sun brightly shining, is just beautiful. Took a great walk at Valley Forge Park…they plowed part of the trails. So pretty. Untouched snow in all directions. Got some great pictures.</p>
<p>We have snow coming in again for the Tu/Wed event. It took me 3+ hours just to get ONE car dug out. </p>
<p>I’m sick of TV meteorologists too. They seem so stinking self-important.</p>
<p>spdf: While I do realize that our nation faces huge difficulties right now, in my neck of the woods, no one is too concerned tonight about those big issues. We have 125,000 local residents with no power, buried in 2+ feet of snow, some with no water. Our local communities were out of salt last month and many of the small towns, including mine own, decided not to plow after midnight Friday so that they didn’t have to pay overtime to the drivers of the trucks. So, from 3 p.m. Friday to 4 p.m. Sat, 24 or more inches of snow has fallen and the roads weren’t plowed for the last 16 hours of the storm. Hundreds of trees are down. Another storm is due in on Tuesday night bringing an additional 8-12 inches of snow.</p>
<p>My own church is open 24/7 with blankets, food, etc. for those people who have no power or water at home. Some, especially the elderly, can’t even get help though, and are depending on their neighbors.</p>
<p>So, ok, we have an energy crisis, a health-care crisis, a war on, our government is imploding, and omg, there’s a republican in a senate seat from Massachusetts. Well, if you can’t even get a drink of water, can’t have heat when the low tonight is to be 0, and you can’t even drive on the road even if you’re able to shovel out your car… yeah, you don’t really care about the other stuff.</p>
<p>So, yeah, I’m sick of snow.</p>

<p>yes dmd…VF Park runs excellent educational programs. I learned recently that most of the men died during the warmer months following that brutal winter - from disease (vs cold or starvation). And there is more known about the women at Valley Forge…I just ordered a new book on that topic. </p>
<p>The Park is a treasure. Historic and beautiful. It helps me (and many others) cope with the winter doldrums.</p>
<p>That is a gorgeous park in any season.</p>
<p>^^^agreed…but I seem to need it more in the winter. It’s one of the few places that plow the trails. And the kids have so much fun sledding there. I’m tempted to get some snow shoes! </p>
<p>Anyway…they are now calling for 12-16 inches around here. Where will it all go…it seems the piles around here are as big as they can be.</p>

<p>Me too, Fencersmom! Especially when they broadcast about storms “in Buffalo” when they really mean to the south, say around Chattaqua or Jamestown NY and Erie PA… or to the East, say Rochester/Syracuse/Ithaca land. </p>
<p>Give credit to those who are really suffering. We hate this false praise up here in Buffalo. Unused snowshovels make us feel guilty on behalf of our Northern brethren and sistern. </p>
