Was very interesting last night what Hillary had to say in her comments about Obama’s speechs - especially in her xerox comment - but then at the very end of the debate - who did she copy??? ROFL Edwards words…

So I guess now she can’t complain about Obama’s ‘words’ anymore LOL - she is just as guilty - they are even.

I understand your point - but not so sure I agree with it - but that is for another discussion - just find it funny that she accuses him of something she has now done herself - her last comment of the debate last nite was taken just about verbotum from one of Edwards speeches.

Something like this…CLINTON: Whatever happens, we’re going to be fine. You know, we have strong support from our families and our friends. I just hope that we’ll be able to say the same thing about the American people

I heard this last night on CNN in the discussion following the debate. What are her speechwriters thinking? Giving her the “zerox” line to spout off and then lifting lines from Edwards??? They knew her words would be under scrutiny!

You know I made it very clear that this election is about all of you, she said at a morning rally on a chilly street corner in Dallas Friday morning. Its about your futures, your families, your jobs.

For me, she added a moment later, it really is about what we can do together.

Call the Xerox patrol. This sounds very much like “YES WE CAN”. :o

To excuse both of them, at least partially. I am a writer and I read stuff that sticks in my mind. Later I might find myself using someone else’s phrase in my own writing. Not kosher, but extremely easy to do. At least I can go back and change or delete. Not so with the spoken word.

I think that is what happens with people who give speeches every day. Let’s give them both a break for stress and exhaustion.

Hillary is the one that made this an issue in front of millions of people on National Television in a major debate. If she apologizes to Obama for the Xerox* comment, maybe she should be spared some scrutiny.

If not, I say “Bring it On.” :D

Note:* The Xerox comment was totally ridiculous because Obama had permission from Governor Patrick to use the words that he used.

I initially posted about this because she has made such a stink about it - and then… what does she do??? uurrrmppphhh - so I have absolutely NO mercy for her ROFL

If she had wanted to - she could have been the bigger person and apologized - right there on national TV - and then not included her final comments - that she so lovingly delivered to the nation - but written and spoken by another candidate (who she is attempting to wooooooo for their support as well!!! :() - eeegaaadsssss - she makes me laugh - cackle cackle cackle

I don’t want to make another thread, since there are already so many about this election but, if you allow me to squeeze in some words…

Just on the news they were saying that Obama is unpatriotic because he didn’t put his hand on his chest when they sang the national anthem. Well, you’re not supposed to, thats for the pledge of allegiance. Obama was in the right position.

Then, they say Michelle Obama was unpatriotic because she said this is the first time she was proud of her country. Can we be real here, and understand that she actually meant, the first time she is this proud.

This is seriously ‘silly season’ in politics.

That hand over heart story has legs. A Democratic friend of mine has mentioned it twice. She’s liberal but quite wary of anything foreign-sounding (!)
Well, the opposition knows what buttons to push.

the idea that anyone is copying anyone’s words is a bit ridiculous. It’s like claiming that “god bless america” is plagiarism. They’re all from the same mindset and the same country.

as far as michelle obama, i do agree it was taken out of context. however, if this was the first time michelle obama was proud of the country, i wouldn’t have said that. because though the last eight years have been awful, in her lifetime some great things have happened. so it makes her seem pessimistic. I highly doubt she is. but you have to watch you words around the media.

Let’s not forget that Michelle Obama is a black woman. Privileged and educated to be sure, but a black woman. And she has a different perspective than I, an educated white woman a decade her senior.

I would like to hear more of Mrs. Obama’s feelings about America (fat chance). I, too haven’t been proud of “us” for some time, but certainly not for my entire adulthood. Or perhaps she just misspoke or exaggerated without meaning to.

Time? I haven’t received mine yet, but I did buy Newsweek, which featured Michelle on the cover. The reporting was far too bland, however, and didn’t give me any depth of understanding.
