Okay, so do girls ever take the initiative in relationships?

As in, are girls ever the people who take the initiative in turning a friendship into a relationship? Or is it usually boys who do that? And if boys do that, do they take the initiative in nearly all cases, or just the majority of cases?

I know a girl who did take the initiative in doing that. I don’t know of other cases though.

And are there ways to test if a girl is particularly receptive to you? My test is simply this: “well, I kind of want to be in a relationship with someone (I keep the indefinite pronoun in the quote - to avoid risking anything) for these reasons…”

I’d rather the girl took the initiative because as a guy, I feel it’s ridiculously impossible to tell what a girl is thinking.

I think it depends on how much a guy wants a girl or a girl wants a guy…or maybe how outgoing someone is.

That’s why you have a coin method.

loslobos71 you may think its impossible but only a real man can take the initiative. obviously…your not a man

lol just kidding

It’s frustrating when a girl takes the initiative, because then she’s sort of the “leader” in the relationship. It’s hard to tell if he actually likes you, or is just going along with it. Some girls will take one step and wait for you to take the next, and some will just suffer silently waiting for you. Others will come running.

It’s hard to ask someone out without changing your friendship, whether or not she’s interested in you. But please don’t use the “I kind of want to be in a relationship with someone, blah blah blah” line in talking to her. It’s frustrating because she’ll be wondering if you might be talking about her, but assuming you’re talking about someone else, and confused as hell no matter what. Try asking her who she’s interested in, and if she says someone else, ok. If she asks you who you like, you can be honest. And you can always go through a mutual friend to figure out whose feelings are where.

I find these threads to be ticking mind bombs. You think and say 10000000000X faster than you can type. It really frustrates ppl…-_-;;

lol, true… Good points, lavendercloud

Inquiline - Yeah, that happened to me with prom - my friend was all worried about how he was gonna ask this girl to prom, and blah blah blah, and I was talking him through it…and after all of that, he finally asked me, and I was like um. Right. You could have made that SO much easier!

lol i was in this exact situation. I’m a guy and i’ve been friends with this girl for awhile. I even took her to prom and after prom i started forming a crush for her. I decided to go for it and tell her, and she said she wanted to remain friends. I felt like crap for awhile, and felt kind of stupid(mostly cuz its teh first time i ever asked a girl out!), but she was such a good friend that she helped me deal with it. So i guess the moral is if you’re truly good friends, you’ll always come back to the friendship so just tell her and go for it! Maybe i was too direct, but now im over it and we’re back to being good friends. Just thought i’d share my experience to anyone who cares.

I expect the guy to man up and not act like a woman.

Because there is no way I’d want to be the dominant one in the relationship.

It’s up to the guy to take initiative usually. Girls are helpful though giving hints along the way, it’s just usually that guys are so blind they miss the hints girls give them.

btw: i’m a guy just a social observation.

Do any of you know of cases where the girl took the initiative? Is it extremely rare or just fairly rare or just the thing that happens less frequently?

How does one take the initiative anyways? Should one say “omg lez be in a relationship?”

I want to know too.

An example could be the last girl I dated. We were co-workers who were friendly with one another, and we would hang out after work occasionally. We did a few things that might have made it seem like we were more than friends, but nothing was ever discussed.

On my birthday, however, she came by my house for the little get-together I was throwing, stayed around for a while, and then needed to take off. I walked her out to her car, talking about inconsequential things, and just before she left, she decided to kiss me. I didn’t ask for it, I didn’t do anything too telling that said I wanted it (even though I most certainly did), but she took the initiative to admit how she felt and progress the relationship.

Since I’m a girl, I tend to take the initiative. My friends tell me that I’m really really OBVIOUS when I like someone, but I do that on purpose so then the guy can at least know I’m interested. I’m pretty blunt with my feelings if I like someone, but then again I like to chase too. LOL

Eff that.

I took the initiative with the last guy I was seeing and it didn’t turn out how I thought it would at all (mixed signals all over the dang place), so I’m never trying that again. Not kidding.

Actually, I think I’ve made the first move in more than half of my past relationships in one way or another (usually the classic let it slip that I’m into them to a blabber-mouth thing)…so no more.

From now on it’s grow a pair or leave me alone…dammit.
