What are the pros and cons of being placed in an old dorm vs a new dorm?
Also pros and cons of being placed in small dorm vs big dorm?

From what I have seen, older dorms tend to be bigger.
This could be different from school to school.

Also, schools have these dorms assigned by grade/year, so you will be going to a freshman dorm or an junior dorm, etc. You might no be able to choose.

My son has been in older dorms and new dorms. He prefers the older dorms (because they were bigger).

But what about the showers and furniture in the older dorms? Do they tend to be more rusted and outdated? And do older dorms tend to be more run down so they give freshman these old dorms or do they tend to give upper class the older dorms based on tradition?

Depends on what school, you need to check out all the dorms. From what I’ve seen, new dorms are usually not ideally located as the best spaces were usually taken over a hundred years ago. Location can be important. New dorms generally have some advantage to make some people want them despite location like bigger rooms and more private bathrooms. Old dorms usually have more charm.

I am a bit confused.
Some say that the older the dorm the bigger the room ideally.
While some say the newest dorms have the biggest rooms.
The school Im trying to find out info on is Milton Academy?
If they put me in the oldest dorm on campus, plus its far away from main campus, plus its the smallest dorm on campus what is the school saying to me. Do they not like me that much?
I am not a complainer but…
Depressed about this matter.

Why are people worrying about dorm placement when you have no control over it? Don’t go reading too much into your dorm placement either - if they didn’t like you they wouldn’t have accepted you.

Believe me, life will deal you much hard issues than your dorm assignment during your first year - buck up! :0)

Late fate play it’s hand and enjoy your placement. What someone said on the other thread about great dorm faculty is really the most important thing.
