I am off to google borderline personality disorder. It is one of those terms I always hear but am never quite sure of the specifics.
@VeryHappy, no, my in-laws were careful to get it right. And yes, my parents and brother spelled it correctly, My aunts, uncles, cousins - they’re the ones who get it wrong. And now, so does the next generation.
Then again, my e-mail address has it spelled correctly, my signature has it spelled correctly, and yet people respond to my emails with it spelled wrong. And it’s neither an unusual name or an unusual spelling. Just the feminine vs. masculine versions of a name.
Holy cow.
I have extended family members (among others) who constantly spell my first name wrong as well as one of my kid’s, and they also aren’t very unusual. Many people are very unobservant.
MIL spelled D’s name wrong for her first 8 years. Sometimes she still does, as do others in the family from time to time. Not to mention the rest of humanity. Spelling not their thing, I guess. The stupid thing is they argued against the name I wanted to give her because “people would spell it wrong”. (Actually not the reason, IMHO, but it wouldn’t have looked right to argue their true reason.)
