Looking for hope that older students can still get admitted to TAMU. Im 31 years old and applied for transfer to TAMU for their AgEc program, but very nervous. My GPA from my two year is 3.0, but I work, go to college, take care of my two daughters, and help run our ranch. Is there any hope for me?
No actual experience with TAMU, but work with people who enlist in the military. Upon finishing their 4–6-year commitments almost everyone gets into the schools of their choice. I personally think schools appreciate older applicants dedicated enough to come back to school. I did go back to school at age 34. I got into a program where my grades and test scores were a tier lower than everyone else. But I did just fine.
In your case, experience managing a ranch and wanting to do agriculture is probably a big plus. I would be shocked if you din’t get accpeted.
Best wishes.
That is great to hear. I have been very nervous with seeing everyone else’s GPA’s and was starting to feel as if I wouldn’t get the time of day. I am really hoping that all of my extra curricular activities I donate my time to (4H Club Manager, Softball Coach, Mom, Business Owner, Rancher, etc.) would show that even juggling all of these activities I still managed to keep a 3.0 GPA in school as well. So now I guess I just get to play the waiting game. I am waiting for two more green check marks and to find out what their decision is.
Thank you so much for the kind words.
