Oldest Boarding School in America - West Nottingham Academy

<p>I read this interesting article today about West Nottingham Academy in Maryland which was founded in 1744. It’s a really small school (125 students) and like most schools outside of New England, it doesn’t get a lot of play here on CC.</p>

<p>funny, i always thought andover or governers were the oldest schools…
guess not</p>

<p>Andover, 1778 and Governors 1763. Governor’s does claim to be the oldest boarding school on their web site “We’re First”. I am sure they both must qualify their claims in some way, like “continually operated” or Co-Ed or Independent or something.</p>

<p>Andover claims to be the oldest incorporated boarding school, not the oldest in general.</p>
