Ole Miss piano program?

Does anyone know anything about the University of Mississippi piano program?

musicnerd, welcome. While I’m not the one to give advice on the “best” piano program(s), here’s some reading to get you started. If you haven’t already, please read BassDad’s excellent overview post here: http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/music-major/258796-so-you-want-music-major-one-familys-experience.html

From your post in the “Introduce yourself” thread, you mention accompanying, collaboration, and a cross-over to musical theater. A few posts with some insights:

Just a sampling of the piano “titled” threads, which I found through the “search this forum” button. There are plenty more.

To address Union University (mentioned in your other thread) and Ole Miss, a search reveals no prior threads.

As a state flagship, Ole Miss would typically have a solid music department, but not the name recognition of the more well known programs. Union (from a cursory reading of the website) is a faith based institution with a concentration of worship music. Seems a program worth looking into for those with a desire to head in that direction. Beyond that, they are different schools, size and emphasis wise.

A bit more background on your level of training, experiences, geographic preferences, need for aid, academic stats and scores might help others point out various options.

Thanks so much!

As far as my experience and other stats…
I am a homeschooler. I have a 4.0 (Yes, I had to work for it  ). I made a 32 on the ACT, first try, and I am in the pool of students being considered for National Merit this fall. I am a member of the National Homeschool Honor Society.
As far as music goes, I’ve been taking piano for about 6 years. I am classically trained and I play competitively in the spring. I am preparing senior recital program for this spring. This summer i was one of two accompanists for a junior opera camp for a nearby Opera center. I have been the accompanist for church programs and I am currently playing for Sunday morning worship.

Geographically, I want to stay around the Memphis,TN area. Probably no more than an hour and a half/ two hours from that area.
Any further comments on Ole Miss, Union, or any school in said area?
