Oliver Wyman

I realize Oliver Wyman is a financial consulting company, but I have no idea where else to put this topic. I read this about Oliver Wyman:

Does this seem too good to be true? Becoming a director only 5 years after graduation from an undergraduate program, possibly making 350,000 a year? Anyone know about Oliver Wyman or the path up through it and is this information realistic?

who says they make that much…I doubt their directors make more than a quarter of a million…but then again i know nothing…

Oliver Wyman’s FS practice is known to pay a lot, close to ibanking (but still not quite that level). The bonuses are much larger than the General Management consulting group. However, the FS practice is a very specialized area and does not expose you to different types of clients.

Oliver Wyman has only 2 positions, Consultant and Partner (aka Director). They really sell themselves on their flat hierarchy…

Other firms like McKinsey, Bain, BCG have multiple positions, such as
associate consultant (business analyst, whatever name), senior AC, consultant, engagement manager, partner, director…etc

But in general, it seems easier to rapidly progress at Oliver Wyman relative to M/B/B…
