Olympiads!

Perfectpixie, I’m aware that you can pay your way through the process…but that is unethical to revolve admissions to mainly this criteria. Don’t assume that admissions is a sham, it is not. I am an international student at UVA (living in us but not in virginia), and I have not paid myself through at all. I have very few of my own money to pay for college, but I am going to uni under a scholarship that I worked hard for… So it can be possible to earn your place respectfully in top unis. I only visit this website because it allows me to give tips to internationals/american-indian citizens in us…or even perhaps in india since hardship of admissions is the same for all internationals regardless of the place they live (unless I apply to my state unis, which will give me reduction of tuition). You have never noted that I don’t give advice for Jee and other indian system stuff on these forums, solely because I am not part of that world.

^ that was uncalled for since I have all my answers about my uni taken cared by directly talking with admissions (much more concise and less controversial than these forums turn out to be). And yes, I am Indian…do you have any problem? I don’t really understand where you are getting at with your inclusion of […]. Even though I’m a newcomer on this website, I am not a newcomer to admissions. I would rather prefer that you focus on the OP’s question than direct criticism towards me…when I have actually shared useful information.

Sorry to be so blunt, but you are a bit of a hipocrite. This is not my opinion, but true fact based on your recent post. How? Well you continue to reprimand me for going off track and sharing no useful information, but you yourself are doing just that.

I will say no more…

I agree with that sentiment pixie, it would annoy the heck out of me as well. However, I mentioned that little speech because I assumed (in fact I believe strongly) that the OP has not made internationals yet. Otherwise, he would not be thinking so depricatingly about not winning an awards at the international lvl. You and I know exactly how many spots there are in a national team for the Olympiad, so realistically thinking…I was trying to make my speech realistic as well.
