I say good for Germany too. Marco Sturm was my favorite Shark, when he was a Shark. Bring that guy back to the US, NHL and AHL teams that need coaches.
Jumping on tired legs is jumping on tired legs. The first half of the program is not “warm up” - it’s exhausting mentally and physically.
Heads up! If you’re a person who normally finds alpine ski racing a little boring, tonight has the perfect event for you. For the first time ever, the Olympics are having an Alpine Team Event! In this event, each nation selects 2 skiers of each gender and 1 backup of each gender. The 4 skiers of one team each go head-to-head against the 4 skiers of another team. The courses are parallel, so you can actually see who’s winning, and short (~25 seconds), so the action is fast-paced. The winner of each matchup earns 1 point for their country. It all starts at 9pm ET!
It was a tie in the long program, but when there is a tie, the one with the higher artistic score wins, which is why some commentators said that Medvedeva won the free skate/long program.
Meanwhile, I saw an interview with Ashley Wagner, where she really blasted the American women skaters. Seemed like sour grapes to me. They won a bronze in the team event after all. The only one who looked bad by her comments was herself.
^ And don’t get me started on Ashley “poor me” Wagner!!
I finally got to watch the Russian skaters, and, personally, I preferred Medvedeva over Zagitova. Medvedeva’s program seemed more complete and fluid. I got bored watching Zagitova skate and spin for the first half of her program, followed by a jumping exhibition. They were the 2 best skaters - I just would’ve reversed the standings.
I hope they change the rules so that putting all your jumps in the second half of the program will no longer be desirable in terms of scoring. I thought it detracted from the overall impression of Zagitova’s program.
4 man bobsled - I love watching them all pile in.
Can’t believe I am wondering if I can stay awake to watch the men’s curling finals!! USA for the gold!!
These kids who do the Big Air are a little bit crazy! The ‘veteran’ who is 26 wins gold. Love the commentators, too. They speak an entirely different language.
Team ski event sounds interesting but I’m not seeing it on the prime time show.
Guess the team alpine event was 9 pm central.
Team skiing just started
It’s on now
All this talk about the Olympics got me nostalgic. If you have an hour to kill, this documentary about the 1980 US vs. USSR Hockey Olympic match is a good one. David slew Goliath. ![]()
My bad, I gave the time the Team Alpine Event started in Korea, not the time the television programming started.
Team skiing is really kinda boring.Weird turn of events that the curling will be more exciting than the skiing!!!
I liked the skiing.
I actually enjoyed the team skiing. I also am enjoying curling more than I thought I would!
