Omega 3 capsules

I echo the warning about paying attention to side affects and interactions with certain medications.

And note the warning about toxins in fish oil capsules, too. The better brands are free of toxins.

This information from Dr. Andrew Weil…

You could always get your Omega 3’s through food instead of dealing with capsules. It’s not that hard – you can put a spoonful of flaxmeal (not the seeds) on your cereal. I have also heard that walnuts and almonds has some kind of Omega 3’s as well. (I’m a little fuzzy on the details, but a long time ago I did some research along these lines.) Every morning, I eat cereal or oatmeal with flaxmeal and a handful of almonds and walnuts. It’s a tasty way to get what you need.

I take Nordic Naturals (expensive) and do not burp, or taste anything fishy.

I use Omega 3 capsules that I buy from the Zone Diet folks. They sell a liquid Omega 3 supplement. Don’t know if that would be less likely to cause burping–I never had a problem with these capsules.

I don’t like fish either. I take the enteric coated capsules and they don’t bother me.
I also take an equal amount of flax oil.

Trader Joe’s carries two kinds. For lack of a nicer way of putting it, a burp and a burpless kind. The latter costs a $1 more per bottle here, worth it to me. Although I do like salmon, I’m not into fishy burps.

I bought a cheap grocery store generic and haven’t had any problems with them.
I started taking them because friends told me it helps their skin and also it’s good for the heart. What other good things have you noticed since you have been taking them? I want to know if my kids should take them too.

Research reports that fish oils are good for joint flexibility and can help with mild depression.

My dog takes 6 capsules per day (he’s as goofy and happy as can be but has bad hips!).
