OMG.. I'm so nervous ppl HELP ME PLZ !! Major changed to DGS

Hi everyone,

I initially applied for computer engineering major but it recently changed into DGS undeclared.

I was reading the old posts and someone said if this happens, it means that I am accepted to DGS while rejected from my original major.

It doesnt matter if I dont get my first choice major, I just really want to get admitted to DGS.

Is it true that I am already admitted?

—My stats FYI-------------

Plz Answer my question

and good luck for everyone who applied !!

Thanks

i dont think you were admitted, youre just being considered for dgs…theres a good chance im wrong

It doesn’t mean that you’ve been accepted or rejected. It just means that you are being considered for DGS. You’ll know today at 5:00 cst.

hey my major changed from computer science to electrical engineering, does that mean i am still being considered for computer science or is it that i am only being considered for electrical engineering

wow is cs that hard to get into…i think theyre offering you electrical engineering but i guess youll have to wait and see

CS is very popular, and each program attempts to assemble the best class of entering students that they can. Manan, the good news is you’re still being considered for admittance to the College of Engineering, but unfortunately, not for CS.

but on this blog in the comments section Emily states that" you may notice a program change when checking your application status. This means that you are still being considered for your first choice major, but also for other avenues of admission."

What is the difference Computer Science and Computer Engineering???

Software and Hardware?

Guys!
So do you guys mean, I might be considered for my first choice, but if I get rejected they will consider me for DSG undeclared which is more possible to get in right??

bastion you are no longer being considered for your first choice. you are now being considered for general studies.
good luck

Computer Science is more theoretical and involves software and programming. Computer Engineering has some aspects of CS and also involves hardware. That’s the basic rundown on that.

My major is still computer science, thank god.

Once you are in, can you change your major and even double major? Say if you applied CS, but now you want to double major in CS and finance, is that possible?

During your Freshman year, you must stick with the major and college that you got accepted to. After that, you can switch majors/colleges (after applying and getting accepted to that certain major). You can not double major in finance if you aren’t majoring in something in the College of Business already. It sucks but that’s how it works…

So are you saying one cannot double major across two distinct colleges (such as College of Engineering and College of Business)? That’s too bad… But can one double major within one college, such as two engineering majors?

^It is possible to double major within a college. It is also possible to seek a major in a second college (which would technically be called a double degree program). However, that does not apply to the College of Business which does not accept any double major/degree applicants from the other colleges and thus it is impossible to start out in and get a degree in engineering and also get one in business.

@drusba, thanks for this reply! It’s quite helpful, but it crushes my dream of combining engineering and business in college… So is it because the business school is very hard to get into so it doesn’t accept students from other colleges (even from the engineering school)? That’s sad.

Drusba, thanks a ton for that, I didnt actually know that this was possible.
I just got in for CS in the Engineering college, and was wondering how possible it is to do a double degree with the letters and science college (psych), and what would I have to do for this to happen?
Thanks!

Honestly, a double major with any engineering degree would be extremely difficult. One of my friends is in biomedical engineering and wants to get a minor. To do this, she already has all of her classes mapped out for her 4 years of college, taking 18 credit hours each semester, and there is not 1 open spot for another class…just to give you a perspective of how difficult this can be.
