My comments:

If your own style is something really strange (e.g., Manson-type goth), hide it and be professional.

There’s never such thing as “too much cleavage” – if you have a male interviewer.

While Furda is obviously not judgmental, you’re better off playing it safe since you may get an interviewer who is judgmental.

Who knew common sense could get you $15k by overpriviledged head without the wit to Google?

Regulars here could make a killing.

I think most of the regulars here would be able to make more money than she’s making by the time they’re 10 years out of college (which she appears to be). It’s unclear how many people are actually paying for the $15k service, and it can’t be very many if she has to devote 60 hours of her own time to someone paying $15k (doesn’t seem to be a very efficient business).

60 billable hours to gross $15k = $250/hr before taxes, which is basically what my last consulting firm billed me out at, on average after discounts. Of course, I was billing ~50-55 hrs/week, most weeks, but that’s still not a shabby business. and let’s just say I wasn’t seeing all of that $250/hr myself.

But you were recently out of college, and she has an MBA and has been out of college for 10 years. It’s very unlikely that she has enough of a client base to give herself 2000-2500 hours of work a year at a ~$250/hr rate. Also, she probably has to waste a ton of time self-promoting and meeting with potential clients in order to try to drum up business. She probably has low overhead, however. But I wonder if how her other two employees are getting paid.
