OMG...make this chocolate chip cookie.

We are butter and oil folks in this household–no lard, thanks!

Pure leaf lard is a gift of the gods. That hydrogenated lard stuff on the shelf-- not interested.

My favorite is the Cooks Illustrated Perfect Chocolate Chip Cookie. You use browned butter to give it a toffee flavor.

Wow, never heard of leaf lard before–where is it sold? Never mind–found it online. Even Amazon sells it but why is if called LEAF lard?

I think because it comes off in layers, instead of a block, when removed from the pig.

Why is it called “leaf lard”? Because it is rendered from the leaf fat of the pig. :wink:
