it’s not surprising, MIT tends to accept more athletes and URM during the EA round, however they do accept many of the deferred people during the RD round
for example, this year in my school, about 7 people applied to MIT and all got deferred except a black girl who had much lower stats than did the other 6 applicants

i wouldnt worry too much…MIT is VERY VERY conservative in its admissions during the EA round…it’s only around 11%…you really cant compare MIT EA with princeton ED

I have a little more optimistic news. Two people from my school, both white, male, non-athletes applied ea to MIT and both got in. It gives me a lot of hope because they are #2 and 3 in our class and im 1 with the same ecs and more.
40 minutes to my MIT interview…

…and I have some pessimistic news! My friend got deferred :(
But on the optimistic side, we’re going to celebrate in a great deferral party when I get my thin envelope on Monday! :)

What if you get in?? You wont be invited to the party anymore… That would be slightly ackward if you were at a deferall party but secretly had beem accepted to Princeton… haha

yeah well my friend applied to mit ea and this kid is legit. 2400, genius, smartest-kid-i-know, and a perfect match for mit…yet he was deferred
thats the bad news…whats worse is now he decided to apply to pton!
can you believe it??? silly mit kids thinking they can take our pton spots!
I THINK NOT!
