Alan Rickman, who played Snape, was amazing in that character. I was not surprised, but disappointed that he was overlooked for an award nom for The Deathly Hallows pt II. I thought it was his best performance in the series. Dame Maggie Smith as Professor McGonagall was just an amazing casting choice.

I whole heartedly second blue. I will also add that I hated the second Dumbledore.

I’m blanking on her name (Helen…?) but the woman who played Bellatrix was also superb in her role.

Helena Bonham Carter. She was Bellatrix and I now have trouble seeing her in other roles, not because she’s not an amazing actress. I just see Bellatrix.

Helena Bonham Carter is a master of strange roles. See Sweeney Todd, Frankenstein, Alice in Wonderland, Planet of the Apes, Corpse Bride, Merlin’s Morgan le Fay.

If you want to shake the weird image of Helena Bonham Carter rent A Room with a View…hard to believe she went from that to Bellatrix. I tend to see her as the Red Queen now.
