<p>I hate Scientology. I was once offered a pile of money to teach L. Ron Hubbard as the greatest American writer of the twentieth century. Offer came with kit and stipend. Not.</p>
<p>But I don’t hate Tom Cruise who seems just as much a victim as Katie Holmes. And he has done acts of great generosity and kindness that I have personal knowledge of regarding 9/11 first responders.</p>

<p>I loved Katie on Dawson’s Creek and in pieces of April, but no one forced her to marry him or make Victoria Beckham her best friend or let Suri wear high heels or put fashion before all.</p>

<p>I agree with mythmom. What’s the point in being harsh? I don’t get it. I think the end of a marriage, particularly when there are children, is a sad thing, not something to make fun of or denigrate.</p>

<p>lol…I hope not. That actress, Julianne Hough, has been with Ryan Seacrest for years. Side note, but I absolutely love her. She used to be on dancing with the stars (as a professional).</p>
<p>My primary complaint about Tom Cruise is the lack of humor about himself I see in his work and in his unrelenting publicity campaigns. He has given some very good performances (Rain Man, Minority Report, Valkyrie, Magnolia, others), though I think he’s essentially a cold actor. For some reason, the over-the-top stunt sequences in the Mission: Impossible movies make me think “what an ego” instead of “wow - amazing.”</p>
<p>His ignorant comments about postpartum depression and psychiatry were annoying and even harmful, though fortunately we live in a world where we don’t have to take a movie star’s opinion as fact. And if we do let a Tom Cruise tell us made-up stuff about pretty much anything, we’re on the ignorant side ourselves.</p>
<p>I wasn’t a Dawson’s Creek fan and have never really seen what the big deal is about Katie Holmes. But Nicole Kidman did damned well for herself once Cruise was out of her life - maybe Katie will do the same.</p>
<p>Difference is, Nicole Kidman was a very good, and successful, actress before she married Cruise. Katie Holmes… not so much… not so much of an actress, actually.</p>
