<p>I couldn’t care less whether or not an actor is gay. But about the only thing that could make me feel sad for Tom Cruise would be if he actually was gay and felt that he had to work so hard at hiding it.</p>
<p>The funniest thing about this thread is the OMG part of the title of the thread. Is anyone really SURPRISED by this divorce? I know it didn’t surprise me at all.</p>

<p>You may not care but his “people” care. Please remember his partner (Paula Wagner, I believe) were fired from a major studio for producing box office bombs (semi forgivable), behaving in an unbelievably difficult manner and for the rumors that swirled around them.</p>
<p>It is assumed that Tom Cruise is gay here on the left coast. His behavior is what distinguishes him, as well as box office failures. Produce a hit and all is forgiven. At least at the moment…</p>
<p>I wasn’t surprised at all. The match was odd from the beginning. She had had some kind of crush on him during her teen years, and he seemed to want someone sweet and young who he could either control or mostly get his own way with. </p>
<p>Her parents weren’t happy about the marriage. If I remember correctly, her father (an atty) made sure she had a good prenup and would be compensated if (when) the marriage ended. </p>
<p>Poor Suri…I hate it when kids have to go thru this stuff.</p>

<p>Remember that odd “jumping on the coach” seen on Oprah? I didn’t see the whole show, just the clip which was reshown a million times. He was like 45 and acting like that little Sophie Grace. </p>
<p>I have often felt sorry for the 2 adopted kids. I wonder if Tom spent much time with them after the divorce or were they seen as “part of the divorce” as well???</p>
<p>I’m sure that Mimi and Nicole are glad to be done with him, and soon Katie will be, too. I wonder if these ladies were req’d to sign some kind of document promising never to expose stuff about him?</p>

<p>Several years ago I had the opportunity to meet Katie and thought she was very special (this was before her relationship with Tom). If you have not seen Pieces of April (her best movie by far), find a copy and watch it. Beautiful film, amazing performances by Katie and Patricia Clarkson who was nominated for an Oscar for her role. I watch this movie every year at Thanksgiving (story is about a Thanksgiving dinner) and it never fails to make me laugh and cry.</p>
<p>None of us know what the truth is regarding this marriage. I hope they can work together to make dignified decisions regarding their relationship and their daughter. I hate the way the press is treating this story, it feels heartless and nasty with a gleeful tone over the breakup. Very sad.</p>

<p>I think our “glee” is not directed at the breakup, but directed at the fact that Katie finally decided to separate herself and Suri from Tom Cruise and the his fellow Scientologists.</p>
<p>Don’t feel bad about Tom. He’ll be set up with another woman willing to sign on for a five year contract. Of course, the woman will have to be OK’d by his cult.</p>
<p>I do feel some sympathy for Katie. She’s going to have to deal with the Scientology head honchos as she goes through the divorce process.</p>
<p>I feel sorry for her as well. I think it probably took a great deal of courage for her to make this step. I see in the news that his lawyers (same ones he had for his previous 2 divorces) are publicly saying they hope it will not be contentious - I hope so too and I think that ball is probably in his court. </p>
<p>As for him, do I feel sorry for him. Not at all. I remember how he and Kidman had just renewed their vows 2 months prior to him suddenly blindsiding her with divorce papers after she had a miscarriage and, coincidentally, right before their 10th wedding anniversary when she would have been entitled to half their estate. And when you look at Kidman now all bubbly with a gleam in her eye compared to the cold dead look she had when she was married to him, well I just hope Holmes will get back that happy persona she had 5 short years ago. She has looked awful and haggard the last couple of years.</p>

<p>I, too, have seen Nicole Kidman out and about (she lives across the street from my inlaw’s previous residence) and she really is quite stunning and friendly.</p>
