Will I get penalized for this by any chance?

My class rank is very low, so I didn’t enter one in the CommonApp, I just chose the “none” dropdown menu. I just realized that my class rank is in my transcript regardless, and I have also submitted my application.

Would I be penalized for this?

You didn’t think it would be? The Common App clearly notes that the information on the application in terms of academics does not replace official records. This is why you have to send test scores from the agency and send an official transcript, which would obviously have your class rank on it. To be honest, I don’t know how much attention colleges pay to that section of the Common App when they have a transcript. I imagine its minimal. Regardless, you won’t be penalized because USC will probably figure you just didn’t know it.
