If you have not read the bad sorority girl’s letter to her sisters–well she deserves the Pultizer for creative cursing so be warned before you click.

It’s been a long winter in the north country with yet another blizzard yesterday. My age 30ish niece is an apartment manager. She posted this comment to facebook today:

“This morning I was bummed about this never ending winter but then today I showed an apartment to this poor guy. He was homeless, he was finishing a treatment program, he didn’t have a job and he was pretty slow. I was chatting with him and I asked if he any plans for the day other than looking at apartments. He said he needed to go to a dependency class and then he was going to visit his kids. I asked how old his kids were and he told me that they were 9 months and 2.5 years, but that they were in foster care and up for adoption because he doesn’t know how to take care of them.
I really could care less about the snow now.
My life is so good.”

I so much prefer the attitude of my niece to the entitled sorority girls at IU. My niece does try to find a way to get housing for these poor souls, which is not easy given the constraints of the system. One would hope that one of the sorority girls involved would have enough empathy for those less fortunate and put the kibosh on that theme party. You know, “there but for the grace of God, go I”.

^^Me too and I learned two new terms. Not that I’ll ever get to use them at this point in my life

As for IU, pretty tactless. It has been a verrrrry long winter in Indiana, but no excuse. I’ll just leave it that all Hoosier students aren’t that way. S1 attended school at the other end of the state. The college very strongly supports the city’s homeless center and students volunteer and do fundraisers for it all the time.

Add immature students to list of reasons to avoid Greek life on campus(es). Not a positive for IU, or the residents of that state if the flagship (not counting Purdue) has such attitudes and behavior. Sitting in bars and being nasty to homeless, not just this idiotic sorority.

soccerguy315 - where did the letter encouraged the girls to get drunk and have sex? I read it as to tell the girls to be social. You can be social without having sex or be drunk. I think you are reading too much into it. My younger D also just recently received an email to be social at a mixer, but it wasn’t as funny as this letter.

I couldn’t even read beyond the third sentence in the letter link provided by Northern because there’s an F word in every sentence. If there was any substance in that letter I’ll never know.

Soccerguy, that letter did not encourage girls to drink and have sex. She was telling them to quit huddling in a corner with other girl buddies and do what Greeks do…mingle and be social. Granted it’s a skill, but one that CAN be done sober.

Anyway, I really didn’t need the F bomb every other word, but that said it was a hilarious letter and I presume every single girl in that sorority got the message. Not sure I’d every want to work for this woman, but then, I’m not the type to cheer for the other team or stand tongue tied at a mixer party with my BFFs. Never been in a sorority, but I get what it’s all about. The IU thing was inexcusable.

Anyway the huff post did an equally hilarious mock as if the Deranged Sorority girl had written Obama’s speech after the defeat of the gun legislation. Guess I just have a strange sense of humor.

I see nothing funny or redeeming about a girl (she’s no woman) who calls people “faggots” and threatens to assault them. There’s no place for it. Ever.

Thanks for the summary momofthreeboys but in fairness to the other girls, I would probably “stand tongue tied with my BFF” too if I’m surrounded by people who cannot complete a sentence or phrase without uttering the F word.

The letter is recent. If you google the woman who wrote this letter, there is now a treasure trove of karmic retribution online, including her twitter stream and this video.
The Indiana story is very disappointing. I feel for the members who were forced to go along, against their better judgement. Who would organize something like this? This group had just won a univerisity award for ethics, too!
