"TAIPEI (AFP) China has cancelled a controversial visa restriction on bald Taiwanese visitors amid discrimination concerns, travel agents and local media said Thursday.

The rule imposed by the southern Chinese city of Xiamen barred bald people from applying for one-year multiple-entry permits before it was cancelled earlier this year, according to Taiwan’s Travel Agent Association."

Without reading the article, can you guess the reasoning behind it (the original ban on the bald)? I guessed that perhaps it was because the Chinese didn’t want the baldness gene to be injected into the Mainlander’s gene pool, but it appears they had a different reason which didn’t make too much sense either.
