I’m applying to some very selective schools and I won’t get into my credentials but I want to ask, is it worth mentioning that I’m currently involved in the filming of a pilot for a major prime time network? (There is no certainty it will ever air) It is completely unrelated to the rest of my app and I honestly don’t know if it would be to smart to mention it.

Mention it in ur EC’s

Definitely an EC but I don’t think it will get you into a school where you aren’t competitive for stat wise. If you did any prior acting mention that as well.

What if they think I might not be able to fully focus on school if the show takes off? Also, I may have to get out of the show all together if I go to college out of state

Too many “what ifs” in that statement. Get in, get the pilot picked up, then deal with the problem.

But here would be my basic advice - if the pilot gets picked up, stick with it, that’s a rare opportunity you may never get again. Ask for a deferral from the college. Most series seem to have a life of about two seconds, you’ll be in school just a little bit later. If the series is a hit, that’s a problem we’d all like to have. College can wait in that case.

Most pilots don’t air and then it’s an interesting EC. If it turns into a recurring role on a major network show college can wait. Definitely.

I already have a major role but it’s called a “regular bit player” and that bassicly means that I am in almost every eppisode but I don’t have to say more than 50 words. So if I go to college in state. It won’t be an issue at all.

It’s a very cool EC. Definitely mention it - I would imagine it takes up a fair amount of your time. I think you might be overthinking the whole “well, what if they think I won’t be a committed student!” thing. Adcoms know they can’t foretell the future and I don’t think they would base an admissions decision on something so uncertain.

And btw, congrats on the role! Sounds like an amazing experience.

Definitely mention both - cool “activity”, will help stand out :)

If it is something huge for you, then maybe talk about it in an essay as well.

Thats the thing, I don’t really think I want to pursue a career in acting, so this is more of a fun little side thing more than anything.

In my opinion, it’s even better. It means you have this cool EC that you don’t let go to your head; it also means you have managed to keep a healthy balanced of academics and activities while balancing an EC that can be, at times, more demanding than, say, ColorGuard. :)

We know a lot of young actors in the industry. My eldest is a theatre actress with a lot of regional professional credits (though not majoring in theatre and no designs on being and actress for life.) Her university must have liked them as they listed her experience on the student profile page on the website under “major accomplishments.”

Put the pilot as an EC. If you have done a lot of work, you might need to group them by studio, theatre, program, ect. The common app was clearly not designed for performers but being a child actor is hard work and requires a lot of responsibility and maturity. If you are proud of it, put it on there.
