I see a lot of CCers posting questions about registration, classes, etc… These questions can’t be asked on a forum of people with different academic backgrounds, goals, and opinions. Your situation is unique and only an academic advisor who knows your academic history (as well as UCSD policies and other important things) can answer.

You really should direct these specific questions to an academic advisor. E-advising is great! They answer promptly and give you a good answer to your questions.

These decisions will affect you in the future, you don’t want to make a careless mistake ^_^.

Give me a break. Of course, E-Advising does offer the official answer, but the official answer isn’t always the desired answer. You ask them about the chances of getting in from a waitlist, they’ll just tell you to sign up for another professor. Can you ask them if one professor is better than another? CC is great for all the questions whose useful, meaningful answers you can’t get from UCSD employees.

…and I’m talking about the other questions. The ones that an advisor will know how to answer better than your average CCer. And wow…what a snappy rude attitude…I don’t appreciate being called mom, I’m only offering my advice based on my experience as an incoming freshman last summer, in no way offending you or anyone on here…

I think maybe the reason why people are posting questions about those things here on CC is because E-advising is down right now…well at least for me…it has been down for like 4 or 5 days so i can’t use it.

E-advising is fast for me, as in, I ask a question and like 3 hours later my question is answered. Even though it says I have to wait a business day, that’s not the case.

To ease the questions here on CC a bit, I added a random 10’er in my college and am now asking him tons of questions, he is nice enough to answer them and I know I will be happy to answer questions if a 12’er needed help.

I have to agree with JV on this one - the counselors have experience and may know things that incoming students might not be aware of - this is a great place to get advice about professors, class sizes, and class experience (as well as a ton of other things) etc. but counselors can look at your whole academic picture (as JV was saying) - AP scores, placement test scores, etc. and help advise. Saw another thread on counselors trying to “coerce” students to get into 12 units and waitlist the 4th class vs. waitlisting their third class and only being in 8 units (which isn’t full-time) - this could impact Financial Aid for some folks as most financial aid packages will only award full-time students and wait list courses do not count as enrolled courses - so perhaps they are thinking of things that some people may not be.

Nolife, did you say E-advising was down (not working?) or closed? It is working for me…
